I was the lone patron on my recent late-afternoon visit to Thai Touch Kitchen. But I sat for almost ten minutes before I was acknowledged silently with a menu and a glass of water.
I ordered Chicken Satay as my appetizer, and Chicken Pad Thai as my main course. Another long wait followed, and then the Chicken Satay arrived.
The peanut sauce was delicious. The chicken was not. And it was a chicken dish. The skewered chicken was tough and tiring -- I was exhausted from the chewing. Disappointing.
More disappointment followed when my Pad Thai entree arrived Regrettably, I had ordered the chicken variation, and the tufftiti chicken appeared once again. The Pad Thai noodles were quite delicious, the chicken was quite not. l Ieft most of it behind.
The silent service at my table was in stark contrast to the kitchen cacophony of three young males (waiter was one) banging pots, banging pans, and laughing and talking loudly without pause in the open kitchen.
My reaction was mixed. Part of me was glad they were having a good old time because life is short, and why the heck not? And part of me was displeased because the assault on my ear drums contributed to the disappointing dining du jour.
If today is your day for Chicken Satay, Don't be itchin' for Thai...
Read moreEvery time I try a new Thai restaurant, I order 50% heat level Chicken Pad See-ew and Crab Rangoon, baseline comparison for all. The PSE was listed as "stir fried wide noodles with eggs, broccoli, cabbage, and carrots served with black soy sauce" there was about 3 pieces of broccoli, decent about of noodles and chicken but well over 50% of the bowl was rock hard carrots and some giant white chunks of something that I couldn't even bite through. I enjoyed the heat level, could have used a bit more but baseline test at 5 it was good with the chicken and egg noodles, I was ultimately thoroughly unimpressed with the distribution and ratio of said ingredients that I threw away all the carrots and white things because they weren't good and/or not edible. Crab Rangoon though, that was 5 perfect and amazing creamy delights, highly recommended. Unless I crave some Crab Rangoon, I will not be returning to Thai Touch Kitchen but I wanted to give them a fair shot.
One time that is probably just an updated printer menu but on menus Pad See-ew said it cost 14.50 but rang up 15.95. Probably just a printing error and didn't bother me but something worth noting to...
Read moreFirst Thai restaurant that I've been to since I've moved out to Pittsburgh. Small cozy little spot to grab lunch or dinner. Service was very attentive and drinks were refilled throughout the dinner which sits well with me whenever I go out to eat especially when dealing with spicy foods. Portion sizes are quite large which means you will probably have leftovers which is always a plus for late night snacks or tomorrow's lunch. Food quality, has room for improvement, don't get me wrong the meal that I had was not bad at all for the price, meal size and experience. Although, I've had and made better thai food. Overall, if you are in the area, I'd give it a shot and see if its what you like- it may not be, and if that is the case there are a few other places to try out. Also, they do not have a spice rack with spices and sauces at least at the time I am posting this. I might stop back in a few more times before the end of the year to grab lunch or something. Oh, I also enjoyed the thai words written on the wall, it might be cute to continue this trend maybe where the...
