2:00pm on a Wednesday afternoon, place was empty, which is fantastic based on the reviews of long lines. Not sure if those are still typical peak time rushes, or it was just because of it being relatively new.
First impression, walk in... 3 people working. The only thing that caught my attention was the hot young girl with a tattoo on her neck that said "imagine". I can imagine she will regret that when she realizes it's probably going to limit her career opportunities to Jersey Mike's. Whatever, it didn't affect my sandwich and she was incredibly nice and had a welcoming smile the whole time.
The menu is kinda weird. There's like 5 different sandwiches that are basically the same but all have like 1 ingredient absent. Aside from that there's a handful of other sandwich options, hot and cold.
I got the superb sub or something, which was one of the variations I mentioned above. The meat and cheese is sliced fresh for each order. Not sure if that really makes a difference, besides slowing the process down, but it wasn't busy so idc. I like how they dont have 50 topping items. Because I can just say, I want everything on it and I'm good to go, unlike subway where you have to stand there and say I want this, and this, and this. Plus half that stuff doesn't belong on a sub, ie. spinich. So tattoo neck asks me if I wanted oil and vinegar during the I want everything conversation, which... absofookinlutely I do! I watched her pour them on, and she probably dumped close to a quart. I'm exaggerating, but it was a lot and my thought was, oh man this is gonna be a soggy mess when I eat it (I got this to-go). Turns out, it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. Sure I need a napkin during consumption, but the roll was still a good consistency.
The flavor: I really enjoyed it. I mean I payed $12 for a regular size, chips, and soda... so it better have been good. Will I go back? Sure. Just not too often, and especially not with a family. That would be a $50 bill for 4 people to...
Read moreI have been to this location so many times, it has been a quick go to for my family, everyone could get what they want, granted there have been mistakes in the past that I never complained about, I understand it happens. Unfortunately my visit yesterday was not great at all. It gave me a 15 minute pick up time, I know it's almost never ready on time so I always give another 10 minutes or so till I pick up, and sometimes I still wait, so I did show up later than the time they gave, this girl who I found out to be the manager called my name, only to inform me that they had no GF rolls available. Mind you I placed the order over 25 minutes ago, the regular sub was already made and in the bag taped shut!! She tried to tell me there was no time to inform me that they didn't have any rolls available, I could have my cold sub placed in a bowl. The whole point of going to jersey Mike's was so I could have an actual sub. She did refund my sub purchase, so one person would had a sub for dinner the other did not. I know alot of people may say just get it with no roll, she did offer, but honestly it felt like I just went back 18 years in time when I was first diagnosed with celiac disease and my only options were meat, potatoes or salads. A simple phone call would have allowed me to cancel the order, not waste my time or gas to go there to not get the order. I looked online when I got home and it said GF rolls were still available? The 5th St store really has gone downhill. Needless to say we ordered for the whole family a bit later (when everyone was home) and got subs from another Jersey Mike's location only a bit further away. Definitely will not be going back to this location, and your so called manager really needs some training on how to deal with situations...
Read moreThis was my first time going to Jersey Mike's on 11/8/20 at 5:50 which is important because I want this review to reflect specifically on those working that day and time. I received better treatment and customer interaction here than at some high-end restaurants I've been to. It felt like red carpet treatment. Very impressed. I did have a phone in order and arrived early. Immediately I was greeted and the 2 guys I spoke with were eager to tell me about Jersey Mike's and how good the food is and during our conversation they felt I've waited too long and gave me 2 free sub cards. I didn't think I waited long but definitely appreciated the gesture. It's nice to see employees taking pride in their work and company. It's safe to say Jersey Mike's takes care of the employees by the way they perform. The way the sandwiches are made seems the way of a Subway except Jersey Mike's is so much better. We got a few cheesesteaks and Italians that were excellent and everything was fresh and one of my biggest problems at places when calling in an order is, they always screw it up. Not Jersey Mike's. They made all the sandwiches just how I asked without having to ask me again how I wanted the sandwiches made. Plus it was very clean inside. I have nothing bad to say only a positive experience from the second I walked in, until the time I left. The owner or manager should let all these employees know what an awsome job they did. Jersey Mike's on 5th street is an example how all employees should treat the customer while selling awsome food. Go online and check out the menu. They will make it just how...
