The moon illuminated the streets of Muncie on a late Wednesday night. Four passengers, hungry for food to digest, drove on the cold street of Tillotson to decide where they would feast. I was one of those passengers. Our original choice was a McDonald's--the obvious and typical choice for a late night snack to fulfill hunger needs. On this very night, this McDonald's failed that need. The lobby was closed one hour early on the inside and the drive-thru line was as long as the line of Israelites Joshua led when venturing to the promised land. After an employee told us they were understaffed, we headed back to our vehicle disappointed yet not discouraged from finding food to fulfill our needs. The engine of the car roared just as our stomachs did as the driver floored it to Taco Bell. The line was just as long as McDonald's. Defeat seemed like the only option at that point. I must be honest, a single tear was shed down my cheek as I felt all hope was lost. However, the moon must have been watching our journey because at that exact moment of hopelessness, a light shined down...a glowing light...a guiding light...to the empty yet tempting Arby's next door. Arby's was calling our names like a mother calling for her children to bring them comfort after a long day of sadness. I had never been to Arby's before...I was nervous that my money was not going to be put to it's full potential. The wheels of the car slowly inched forward towards the drive-thru speaker. "Hello...?" asked the driver. A moment passed. What happened next can only be described as what I imagine would happen if God happened to speak to me directly. "Hi welcome to Arby's how can I help you today?" called out a voice from the speaker. We were taken aback. Help us today? This is exactly what we were searching for--help. Help to satisfy our needs. We were nervous however that he might not be able to help us--we needed to do FOUR separate orders. Who does that? Who is willing to take that task on? "We need to do four separate orders...is that possible?" our driver asked. Another pause...a confident pause... "Uhhh, yes." the godly drive-thru speaker voice replied. We knew we had made it. One by one we ordered what was going to be able to suppress our hunger. He took our orders and responded with prices like a true professional eager to serve paying customers. After our slew of orders, we pulled up to the window. We were nervous. What did this man look like? Was he going to look exactly how he sounded? We stopped right at the window. Standing there at the soda machine was a slim yet built man with the biggest smile on his face. He looked happy to be there and most importantly happy to serve us. He approached the window--the name tag became apparent. Nick was his name, serving proudly was his game. One by one he happily took our money and served us our food. I couldn't help but be overwhelmed by the craft in the service. Nick was no rookie. He told us to have a good night--and I believed him. We each drove home, food in hand, and smiles on our faces. Nick, if you ever read this, know that you not only made our night but our lives. There has always been a missing piece in my life. My soul felt as empty as my stomach before we arrived at Arby's. We left with both food and a reason to continue in this sometimes cruel world. I hope not only the best for you but I hope you continue to brighten the lives of those you come across. You deserve not only a raise but an automatic ascension into the Arby's Hall of Fame. You are...
Read moreThe wind was cold tonight. Mist settling upon the upper layer of grass. A mere shiver escaping through my body with every step towards the Mcdonald's doors. Step by step, breath by breath, I felt dark inside. My soul hollow, my stomach empty. My entire being craving an ice cream cone to signify how I felt on the outside. As I pulled on the doors, the stillness was so strong. The motion that should have been, couldn't be. How could they do this? How could they close their lobby before the advertised times? Where shall I go to find my sacred haven for which I am deprived? My mind tells me, "Go down the road to Arby's. They have milkshakes". My frail and fatigued body is dragged, stop light after stop light, only to stumble upon the gloriousness that is this Arby's drive-thru. I first heard him through the speaker, as he told us to take our time and showed us what communicative warmth sounded like through physical absence. What a greeting. What service. What a representative for a franchise so over looked by dollar menus and taco box deals. Nick, you are my new haven. Thank you. Thank you for the milkshake minus whip cream. Thank you for sheer organization that has withstood adversity. The battle of the chains. You have won my battle, Arby's and Nick. You are victorious.

Read moreI had run to the grocery store and was on my way home and was tired didn't feel like cooking so I stopped to take something home. I got the special they were running with the spicy or hot chicken pieces and fries and a drink. I didn't know they had the chicken I had not ate there in awhile. But the chicken was very good- large pieces of chicken in a very spicy sauce(which I love) and it came with the crinkle fries which I like better than the curly ones. As it was on special it was only 6 dollars for the meal which I thought was a great price for the 6 pieces of chicken, fries and a drink. If the special is still on this week I am going to have it again. If you like spicy chicken this is a...
