Arrived at 6:05 pm with my daughter. 3 tables had patrons. Took 6 minutes to get seated. They don't understand english enough and got my order wrong. Had to point to photos on the menu.
Decor is very... not. Poorly decorated, low budget wood and they tried to emulate some of the more high end korean by adding a wall with open doors. Not private rooms as you would find elsewhere, just a wall of open doorways.
Price is higher than an average korean BBQ with VERY limited, options for bbq. Either marinated bacon or 4 beef options. And BEWARE of the mandatory added 20% service charge.
6:40 and still only have water on the table, no food. They did finally turn on the bbq and brought food at 6:50.
I can understand if a restaurant is busy and service slows down. But 30 plus minutes after arrival and ordering with nothing served is a bit ridiculous. They dont have to cook it, you cook it at the bbq on the table.
Food, when we funally got it, was mediocre at best. Bulgogi beef was above average, so that was a welcome surprise. The pork belly we had ordered the herb marinated and a wine marinated. Neither had any difference in color, texture or flavor.
Overall, not a place I would consider ever going to again. Not worth the $75/person, and not worth wasting time.
They have a $89.99 beef or an $89.99 pork (bacon) special. I asked if I could do 2 beef and 2 pork and was told yes. However, instead I got a $145 bill because he doesnt understand english and then argued after the fact that I couldn't do that and had tonoay full price for each dish. Told ME I didnt understand english.
Will NEVER recommend this place nor will I...
Read moreI went to this place because the Blue House is an hour wait. I showed my waitress a picture on the menu that I thought was bbq dish. She explained to me but I couldn’t understand what she was saying. I explained to her that I want the meat that you cook on the grill. She said something about a soup dish which I don’t understand and thought it was a side soup that comes with the bbq meat that you cook on the grill. The picture didn’t have soup dish but it just show marinated meat. It was Saturday night and she is running back and forth. She brought out a soup dish and I was waiting for my bbq grill meat which never came. So I told her it was the wrong dish and she was to busy so she wasn’t interested in exchanging my dish. She still said I ordered the wrong dish but it was miscommunication. I said forget it I will pay over $40 for a dish that we never orderd. I told her to bring this soup back and I will pay for it. So we ended up ordering a bbq dish that she understood what I said. She should have understand earlier, now I have to paid over $40 which we never ordered or touch. No exchange or even discount the dish. I can’t believe that they make me paid the full price which my family never ate. And I told her it was the wrong dish and make her bring it back and still get charged full price, no discount what so ever. They rather make me paid the $40 something and lose us as their customers. Loosing us for $40 something, will never come back. Marinated meat was not fresh, noodles and the rest of the food was not as good as Blue House...
Read moreExtremely tasty Korean restaurant with an old school atmosphere that has amazing entrees with sides and pricing that leave a bit to be desired. I ordered the Budae Jjigae and Man-du Gguk (Korean War Soup & Steamed Dumpling soup)
Their cucumber, onion & nappa kimchi sides leaves a bit to be desired. The fermentation hasn't gone on long enough to have that recognizable funky taste, but it's respectfully done to maintain the overall texture. The fish cake, potato side, and egg pancake on the other hand, somewhat blow the other sides out of the water. You really can't go wrong with these sides though.
Both the Budae Jjigae and Man-Du Gguk are very refreshing. I was having trouble over which one to drink since the Budae Jjigae has that familiar hot & mildly spicy yet sweet taste from a Samyang yet the Man-Du Gguk was a light miso serenade with the rice cakes and shredded carrots & seaweed. The Man-Du Gguk was also for me to give tteok / rice cakes a second chance after seeing so many mukbangers enjoy it.
As with any restaurant however, the red flag to watch here is the pricing. Their pricing is a lot like a Terms of Service on the menu. The fine print shows that the menu & pricing will change without notice. The meal subtotal itself came down to $22 on the Lunch menu or $25 on the online menu, but turned out to be $30 when I met with Ray.
Overall, I enjoyed the meal. Thanks...
