I’ve been coming to Jack Brown’s for years. JBs had my back through 4 years of college, 3 years of work and now that I have started my masters. I never had a bad costumer service experience until this last time.
Our group came in and was informed there was a wait, no problem, we gave our info and were willing to wait. There was an available table that needed to be cleaned and plenty of seats at the bar and aside from our group there was no one else standing at the lobby. One of the employees asked us to wait outside after she took our info. We asked if she was serious because it was below freezing outside. She said she was serious and was sorry that we could read the sign outside and that it was company policy. Most of the group wanted to leave and not dine with them this time after this but some of our other friends in the group were also MTSU Alumni and had not had JBs in a while so we stayed. In the years I have come to JBs I have never been asked to wait outside when 1. There was bar seating available 2. There was a table that just needed cleaning and 3. It was below freezing outside. The staff would often offer the open bar seats or if we were ok with a dirty table and then come by to clean it. We couldn’t find said “sign” about not waiting in the lobby until we left because the sign was facing the restaurant and not the street, plus it wasn’t even visible from inside the local. We found it because we were looking for it after being sent to wait in the cold. This was so disappointing because in the past the staff has always known how to address the clients even with inclement weather. I didn’t see any of the familiar faces I was used to since I started coming to JBs, my positive experiences have been with them. Our waitress (different from who told us to wait outside) was fantastic and her...
Read moreI have eaten here a handful of times and tried to like it. Unfortunately, I can find very little of anything good to say about this place.
First, you can't get "average" toppings for your burger. No tomato, onion, or lettuce. If you want mac & cheese, BBQ sauce, or peanut butter, then they can hook you up. I asked about this the first time I ordered from there and was told that the "specialized" toppings go better with the Wagyu beef that they use. Which brings in the high end beef being used. Every time I have eaten there, the patty has been overcooked and under seasoned. So you have the potential of a good burger with toppings that may or may not compliment the patty, but since they can't figure out how to cook a burger, there is no real help from the toppings. Toppings are supposed to compliment the beef, not be the entire flavoring.
Second, the price. Way overpriced for the size of the burger that you are going to get. The burger is incredibly small for the price that is being charged. For the price that you are going to spend on one burger from this place, not figuring in the cost for a side of fries or a drink, you can go to Burger King, get a burger with the toppings that you want on it, and it will come with fries and a drink. Oh, and it will taste better and not be a dried out little hockey puck.
I will give props to a decent beer selection, but that is the only good thing that I can say about this place. But again, I can go to a fast food joint, get a better burger, then stop at the grocery or liquor store and pick up good beer and enjoy my meal.
My advice is to pass on this place. You can easily find a better meal, that is cooked correctly, and is at a...
Read moreThe food and the overall vibe of the restaurant was great, but the service was mediocre and the attitude of certain employees was downright rude. 3 of my friends and I had come in and asked to wait 15 minutes to 20 minutes. We had no issues with this, as the restaurant was packed and we’ve never had a bad experience before this. When we were seated, our server was for the most part alright. He was nice, but we weren’t checked up on much or received any refills or offers for any. This wouldn’t have bothered me if I had seen the guy busy or serving other tables, but I instead saw him behind the bar talking to his coworkers.
What really upset us, is that when we left, he chased after us twice, the second time after we were across the street almost to our car. The first asking if we tipped, which we wrote off as a simple misunderstanding, but the second insulting us saying we didn’t tip enough, which wasn’t true, as I had tipped 25% of my bill. He told us if we couldn’t afford to tip well, we couldn’t afford to eat there, which again, I had tipped 25% of what our meal was. My bill alone was around $40 and the tip was $10 and some change. And that was only my part of the bill, the friends I went with tipped well on their end too.
When I called the manager after I got home, I was greeted by a very monotone person who seemed annoyed I was calling in the first place. As a manager of a store myself, I think the staff at this location need better training and repercussions for...
