Last night, I had the pleasure of spending a few hours at 1 of 19 Cocktails and Raw Bar with some fabulous ladies, and I cannot recommend this spot more. This is a departure from The Alley (owned by the same fabulous people), and it's done oh so well.
It's got that speakeasy vibe, so you're going to have to find it. Thankfully, there's a velvet rope and a very lovely host to make sure the space doesn't get overcrowded. The space is gorgeous but small, fam. Expect to wait. There were already people waiting when I arrived. But you know I know someone who knows someone. 🤣🤫 We got a little 4 top in the corner and we're able to see all the comings and goings and get a great view of the bar. It's really really great.
The menu is small, so we ordered the whole thing. Seriously. This was not a night for small budgets. There were 4 of us and we wanted to sample everything it had to offer. And sample we did! The check is at the end to show you exactly what we got - and what the whole table spent. This is for 4 ladies getting a little tipsy and trying the whole menu. Use that information as you see fit, but follow that old saying about not having something nice to say, eh?
All of the food was great. It takes a little longer than the drinks, but they warned us of that and so we ordered the dip trio with our first round to have a snack.
The drinks are WONDERFUL. Every drink I had was beautiful and tasty. The names are on the check at the end, but you're not going to go wrong. Check the ingredients listed and the flavor profile provided. If it sounds good, go for it.
If we want to be nitpicky, there was a minor bit if grit still in the oysters, but no more than you'd find at 90% of places out there. I've been lucky enough to eat at some very very top tier places; I wouldn't know anything else if I hadn't.
This is really a special place. I don't mean it's only for special occasions for me, but it might be a special occasion place for you. Maybe a special occasion for you happens weekly or monthly or less often, but this is a place you should definitely go. If you don't have a group of friends who want to try the whole menu, go for a drink and an app before dinner or for a nightcap after dinner.
But whatever you do, GO. It's fabulous and I'm so proud to say it's in...
Read moreOne of Nineteen is amazing! Let's get one thing out of the way immediately. It's not cheap, but that's a good thing. There are any number of places to go for shots or to party. One of Nineteen is where you go to enjoy the ambiance, have some amazing cocktails, and enjoy great conversation.
Let's start with the staff. From the person who greets you at the door to the bartenders and wait staff, and the management, everyone without exception is genuinely friendly and helpful. Our bartender, Kat, was amazing. She explained the whole concept of the bar and then went on to describe the motivation for each of the cocktails. Everything was amazing (The Godfather, The Half and Half, Saint Basil with Vodka rather than Gin, and hands-down the best Old Fashioned I have ever tasted).
The environment is fantastic! This is a cozy basement bar with comfortable seats and amazing charm and the legacy. I am very much looking forward to coming back soon. Our first impression is 100% positive. Definitely THE place for an elegant time with friends and loved ones. Top shelf from start to finish!
Oh, and did I mention that Kat and the rest of the staff...
Read moreYou don't often get cocktails and small plates in an intimate basement lounge, and that is part of the appeal here. Occupancy is limited to 49 people and the space is tiny. But the cocktails will rival the best you've had in big cities. We loved the chorizo stuffed mushrooms, crab coquille, and tomato burrata. Our drinks were so good we each had another: a superb espresso martini and a Saint Known As Patrick. The cocktail names can be as creative as the actual drink. Every place has some negatives, and here it is the noise in such a small place. It was almost impossible to hear & talk. Also, the hightop tables are tiny. With four of us there was not enough room for water glasses, cocktails, and multiple small plates. We ditched the water glasses. Stools at the bar offered more room per person. Teresa gave us great service, too. We had a fine evening here and will be back. Murfreesboro is lucky to have such a unique,...
