Their waittaff are amazingly friendly, helpful, etc.
First experience: Went to try the oysters, but changed my mind when they told me they had burgers on special. My hubby and I wanted to try out their app sampler as well, so we went that route. The apps were very good. We ordered the boneless wings in mild, fried mozzarella and onion rings. All three were very good. I especially loved the onion rings, with the tempura style batter. The only critique for the apps was that we could tell the grease hasn't been changed in a while. The mild wing sauce was SO tasty, with a delicious tang. Wasn't excited about the light orange sauce they served with this, way too sweet, but the marinara sauce was so good that it had the perfect amount of balance between savory and slightly sweet. We modified our cooked medium burgers with blue cheese and bacon, thank God, and both ordered sweet potato fries as our side. When I tell you these patties were cooked to a dry puck, I'm really not exaggerating. I couldn't eat my burger at all. Luckily, I was already full and knew if I took this home, I would be able to reheat the patty with butter, which would add a bunch of moisture to it. My hubby went ahead and ate half of his at the restaurant because he hates reheating leftovers. No, we actually didn't complain. We're both chefs and know the kitchen can't actually cook supper thin patties to a medium without easily messing it up. Plus, it was special, which usually means you're getting something that's not very fresh. The only suggestion I could give to the restaurant is to do more like smash burgers and add some caramelized onions/butter to the flat griddle when cooking cheaper patties. I know the menu said these are half pound burgers, but I highly doubt that. 😅 Maybe pre-cooked weight, adding all of the condiments and buns, etc 😉 to the scale. But seriously, the burger would have been edible if it hadn't been overcooked beyond recognition. As for our add-ons: the bacon was thick and tasty, and the blue cheese crumbles were plenty and a good, pungent flavor 👃 I also ordered a root beer-it was a sassafras styled root beer!!!! Love me some sassafras. I'm definitely buying more of these. Overall, we weren't excited about some of the cost cutting food issues, esp the stinky grease on our fried foods. But we would try this restaurant again.
Second experience: Ordered delivery from this restaurant through Uber Eats. We got more of the wings, a French dip sandwich, sweet potato fries as our side, along with an additional side of onion rings. They don't offer the root beer on Uber Eats 😒. Everything was AWFUL!!! And of course, Uber Eats scams you, only allowing one refund on each order, so we had to gnaw our food the best we could.
First and biggest issue: We don't think they changed their grease from our visit previously to two months later when we ordered delivery. So, considering the grease having a disgusting flavor, imagine what our wings tasted like since they were delivered with NO sauce AT ALL (10 total). In addition, the dressing for dipping them was wrong. So that dish was useless. Then our French dip sandwich at first glance looked like it was someone else's leftovers. The bun was wrinkled! Yep, wrinkled. This only occurs when bread is heated in a microwave. So there's that. Then, when we opened it to look at the ingredients, the meat was so hard, chopped in tiny strips. No cheese and / or sauteed onions included, and the au jus was literally brown water. I think with the au jus, they didn't stir it before they spooned it into the to go ramekin (and only gave one). The two sides of onion rings and sweet potato fries would have been fine had the grease been changed previously.
I'm just disappointed, esp since the waitstaff is well trained and has great attitudes. Is the kitchen not trained to the same standards?
The atmosphere is like any local sports dive, wooden furniture with several tvs. The menu prices are great, but if the food isn't edible, and the old grease makes you sick, then I'll just go back to...
Read moreEverything was great as per usual, however on this particular visit me and my wife were the only ones eating. The kids don’t like your restaurant and opted for subway. We sat and were promptly greeted I ordered a green beer as its St.Patrick’s day and planned on a few more (did not). We got our appetizer and drinks, we were having a good time and then either a waitress or manager approached our table and made the comment, I hope you know they can’t eat that here, referring to the subway that the kids had brought with them. So I quizzed this person on the establishments rules and asked her where the sign was that states this rule. She couldn’t answer because it’s not a posted rule but she still had the audacity to say this to a patron. I don’t know if this is new management but I can tell you that this behavior of coming to a persons table and talking to them in such a demeaning way is unacceptable. If my kid doesn’t like your food and I get them something else they deserve to be able to eat along with us. Myself and my wife are still purchasing from the establishment and the staff is not going to seat menu purchasers at our table to make up for the kids, so it’s no different than if it were just me and my wife. In fact I’m waiting on them to say this to any new parent who brings an infant in that can’t eat their food. This immediately shut my appetite down and turned on Adrenalin. The waiter was great and never mentioned a thing and we did tip him. I really hope for the future that they either abolish this rule or post it for future guests but I will not be one any longer. If you continue to treat those that live here in the city and enjoy going to your restaurant in this manner I would say it’s quite clear that the base will be diminished. ...
Read moreToday we went here because I was craving a burger, BIG mistake!!! Upon arriving I told the hostess that we wanted a table for 2, her reply " Yeah, 6th table on the porch". That should have been the hint that I was NOT going to be a happy camper!! So, I open the menu and find that the option of a burger is limited to medium-size to well done ONLY. I have never been to a restaurant that dictated that I was going to have to eat something almost burnt or completely burnt!!!(maybe a high school cafeteria but not a real restaurant) So the burger was not an option, I end up ordering a rib eye sandwich medium rare. I end up with a medium to medium-well rib eye that I needed to trim lots of fat of, not marbling. . ..gross fat!! The rib eye sandwich had not been cooked with any seasonings and had no flavor. Jim went ahead and got a burger which he immediately regretted . It was a BURNT burger as advertised the size of a small McDonald's burger with enough shredded lettuce to make a salad, and a big bun that dwarfed the burger. He also got aside of cold onion rings. Another cost cutting method that was easily apparent was all the ice put in the come and sweet tea. Just an overall bad experience!! So bad, that they won't get a second chance, and we almost always give a restaurant a second chance, anyone can have a bad day but the whole idea of this is how we cook our burgers and if you don't like too bad so sad. I will say that our waitress was competent, nothing to write home about but she wasn't part of the gaggle of waitresses blocking the aisle around the work station chit chatting it up with each other. We looked at reviews prior to going and I am SHOCKED!!,that there were so many positives.
I had neither good food or fun as their tag...
