I recently dined at this chicken restaurant. The place was clean, and large flat screens played music videos of young Korean performers, which created a lively atmosphere. Since it was my first time trying the famous Korean fried chicken, I was very excited.
I was told that a side dish would be free with a chicken order, so I chose the Golden Original half chicken (6pcs) and picked fried dumplings as the side. I usually prefer to try the “original flavor” when visiting a restaurant for the first time.
The side came out first. They were deep-fried dumplings, which was not what I expected. From the menu picture, I thought they would be more like crispy Japanese gyoza (pan-fried dumplings with a soft top and crispy bottom). Instead, these were completely deep fried. The filling seemed to be mostly vegetables (probably cabbage) and tasted overly salty. I couldn’t detect any meat flavor at all.
When the Golden Original fried chicken arrived, I was unfortunately even more disappointed. While the chicken was hot, crispy, and not dry, it had almost no flavor. The meat was not marinated, and the skin was plain with no seasoning. It lacked the taste I was hoping for. It also didn't come with some kind of seasoning salt. If I ever return, I would probably try the chicken wings with additional sauce instead.
The bill was about $22 before tip. The waitress came with a pos machine and I was not presented with a receipt. The menu listed six pieces of chicken at $16, and I only had the side (which I was told was free) and a glass of water. I’m not sure where the extra $6 charge came from, as tax should not have been that high.
Overall, it was not a good dining experience. The music videos on the screens were fun to watch, but the food itself was disappointing. That said, I still believe authentic Korean fried chicken in Korea must be much better—otherwise, I would be...
Read moreI have been to other bbq chicken locations and was super excited to see that one opened so close to home, since i love it. However, i will never come back here again. Their food quality and service was so bad. Considering that it newly opened, id expect it to be better than usual. The chicken was smelly, dark, chewy, and tasted old. It honestly smelled like dirty dishes. The rice cakes were hard, they sprinkled some mixed cheese on top that wasn’t even melted, the egg was ice cold, fish cake was rubbery and there was no sauce. Not only that but the chicken usually comes with radish which we had to ask for, and other tables were also asking. After we realized that the food was unbearably bad, we went to the front to nicely tell them that the food doesn’t taste right. The staff quickly brushed it off and handed us the check so nobody could hear our complains. they almost rushed us out of there just so we could leave. I do not recommend coming to this location, if it’s bad now (newly opened) i don’t think it’ll get any better. also after i mentioned that i go to the other locations and love it there, she said that all of their food comes from the plano location??? (that makes no sense). But how does ingredients fix the hygiene and...

We ordered: Ddeok-Bokki Fries Waffle Fries Honey Garlic Boneless Half and Half with Original and Secret Sauce
The Ddeok-Bokki was spicy and delicious. The waffle fries were way better than the regular fries, which didn't seem to have any seasoning on them.
The honey garlic flavoring was delicious, but unfortunately we received many pieces with more breading than chicken.
The original boneless was great. Juicy and a good amount of flavor. The Secret Sauce flavoring was also great. Strong in flavor and exactly as described. The downside - we didn't order Secret Sauce flavoring, we asked for the Hot Spicy. Fortunately, we still enjoyed what was given to us.
As far as the service goes, everyone seemed welcoming and friendly. Aside from the flavoring mix up, we also were missing a couple appetizer orders, which were eventually brought out to us.
