My son and I love to get sushi together. Just this past weekend, we stumbled across a hidden gem in Murphy, TX. As we walked into Kenzo, the atmosphere immediately took me back to some small neighborhood eateries in the Chicagoland area i used to frequent. it was dim and Clean and art hung from the walls. from bamboo paintings to ceramic wall hangings. The deep red was inviting and they were quick to seat us. As we looked around there were also knic knacks and gifts from what we could only assume were from grateful local patrons. We saw a sign that was made from a local 17 year old patron of wood and plastic which my son and i agreed must have been cut precisely on a C&C machine and layered together. As an anime fan it was awesome to see the coloring pages of multiple young artists favorite characters... There was Nezuko and Beerus and Goku and well....you get it. On to the food!
We went simple with some pork gyoza for an appetizer. For our main lunch we chose Spicy tempura Rolls, Spicy Salmon Rolls and my son definitely need his spicy california roll!
The Gyoza was so Crisp and the pork was cooked perfectly. The dipping sauce had a sweet broth flavor. We were pleasantly surprised and i would highly recommend. Unless you need something lighter.
The Rolls came out in a family style on one plate and my son and I loved that. From the tight rolls, crispy shrimp and all the way to the tangy eel sauce and spicy mayo... these rolls were on point! They hit the spot as we were completing our meal, our server went to a hidden fridge and surprised both of us with a vanilla icecream bar covered with a chocolate shell. We were a bit thrown off, however it was an awesome pallette cleanser and a great way to wrap a giant red bow on this experience. Hats off Kenzo...Great Apps!, Great Rolls! Great staff and dessert was amazing!! You have made new customer(s) of me and my family! I highly recommend this budget friendly treasure hidden in a strip mall....
Read moreI was not prepared for this establishment. We went to this place on whim because we always passed by saying "We need yo try that place one day!" And finally decided to just do it. The best way I can describe it is..A Hidden Gem. The staff were very welcoming and the restaurant is full of unique, interesting, and decorative, conversation pieces! The ambience is honestly both calming and charming. On to the food! We tried their house Salad, Fried Rice, Shrimp Tempura, and Teriyaki Chicken Bento box. All of which were astounding! The House Salad with the dressing they provided as well as the fried rice rivaled that of the great hibachi restaurants we frequent. I dare say it's in a league of its own! The shrimp tempura batter was a lovely, crispy, and sweet texture that yielded a lot of flavor! We decided to split the Bento box which was a tad larger than we anticipated.. but it consisted of Teriyaki chicken, vegetables, steamed rice, more house salad with the lovely dressing, shrimp tempura, pork gyoza, and california rolls. Everything was superb and just so full of flavor! I even enjoyed their sweet tea! It helped balance everything out for me. Then after we finished we received complimentary ice cream bars which were such a nice finish to the meal! I plan to eat here more in the future and highly recommend it! Give this...
Read moreI have eaten at hundreds of sushi restaurants throughout my life (throughout the United States, and worldwide including Japan), and Kenzo Sushi (in Murphy, TX) ranks amoung the best. The fish is fresh and always delightful. The owner "Mr. Kim" is super friendly and a great host. He will personally wait on tables and is always checking on the customer's welfare (and don't pass up the opportunity to have him suggest a wonderful sake). Nuk (sp?), the sushi chef, is very talented, perpetualy creative, and thinks out of the box. Nuk is always available (only a few feet away!) for a suggestion or to be unleashed to create something new and exciting. Nuk's genious has given me several "outrageous" sushi moments and certainly will provide you with something delicious and something you never had before. As an added bonus Kenzo is always getting different fresh fish choices shipped in and the menu is full has a wide variety to satisfy anyone's sushi/noodle addiction. To top it off, Gracie's service, genuine kindness, and the remainder of the staff's attentiveness only adds to this already off the hook sushi retreat in...
