Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea — Restaurant in Murphy

I’ve never been more disappointed or frustrated with a coffee shop. I decided to try this place to support a small local business, and now I see exactly why it’s always empty.

I went through the drive-thru and ordered a matcha latte with a splash of cream. The employee looked completely confused and asked if I wanted all cream instead of milk. I explained that I wanted milk with just a splash of cream. Then I asked what sugar-free flavors they had, and she just said vanilla. When I asked again, she finally listed five more. Why not just list them all when I asked the first time?

Then I was told my total was $8.00 for a small drink. I asked for a receipt and saw I had been charged $1.05 just for a splash of cream. I asked the male employee to confirm, and he said yes, that’s what they charge. I told them to cancel it. I’m not paying $8 for a small drink with a tiny splash of cream.

Then a different employee came over and said I had been rung up wrong and the actual total should have been $6.22. I said that was fine. As I handed over my card, she stopped again and said she clicked the wrong button and the total was actually $7.27 because she accidentally rang it up as a hot coffee.

At that point, I was done. I told them to cancel everything. The entire experience was unprofessional, disorganized, and frustrating. I really wanted to support a small business, but this was a complete waste of my...

What a great little coffee shop I didn't know existed!

I live in Rowlett, but have a good friend who lives in Allen. We try to find halfway points to meet up, and Murphy seemed to be the way to go. My friend had been to Sweetwaters before, so we decided to meet there.

It was nice and quiet, a great place to catch up. I had the Great Pumpkin latte and they had 2 non-dairy options --- almond and oatmilk. Was able to get decaf that didn't taste burnt (the Sbux near me can't seem to accomplish that feat!) and the drink was tasty.

I also couldn't resist trying the pumpkin chai loaf. Delicious! (Definitely get it warmed up, too! 😋)

The employees were friendly and it wasn't overly crowded, but it was a Tuesday morning, so that might vary.

It was easy to get to and fairly reasonable (coffee seems to be a little pricier everywhere these days).

I'm not sure when I'll be in Murphy again, but if so, I'll likely stop by...

The staff is so friendly! I came here because I used to work at a coffee shop in Minnesota and I would make myself a tea latte with our cinnamon spice tea. Once I moved to Texas, I couldn’t find a coffee shop with cinnamon tea. This place has it, and they make it perfectly! I’ve been two days in a row and I’ll likely start going every weekend just for this drink. They have a HUGE menu to chose from, so I may have to stray away every once in a while to try all their yummy looking tea drinks. The prices are better than most chain coffee shops as well! Love that they have a rewards program too. I’ve only had their yogurt parfait so far, but they also have a ton of breakfast and lunch sandwiches to chose from and they all seem pretty healthy....
