I’ve been to this location a couple of times, most recently this evening before headed to a show. I always get in my head that we should go to here, unfortunately, I was reminded again why I don’t. When we entered and exited there was someone outside with a table for charity trying to get us to donate money, I’m all about supporting charities, but I really dislike being solicited like this when I’m trying to grab a quick dinner. I went through the like first and was asked no less than three times if wanted a brisket burrito. After my third no I was asked again if I wanted to sample the brisket. Similar to charity, I also enjoy brisket, but I promise I’ll tell you if I want to try it and if I change my mind in the course of 12 seconds. The food was just bland, also unfortunately, the spanish rice didn’t have enough seasoning, the steak didn’t taste seasoned at all and was cut up so small it kept falling out of the burrito onto my shirt, the cheese was shredded very thin, and there was no sour cream. More sauce or sour cream would’ve helped. The inside of the restaurant is also just empty and blah. While it has a large mural similar to other locations, it doesn’t have the same vibe of other locations I’ve visited that makes you...
Read moreI hate to compare, but…there is a Chipotle just half a mile away. I get the whole Hotelling Model of Spatial Location from a business perspective, but Chipotle tastes significantly better to me.
My biggest gripe was the rice at Freebirds. Perhaps it was just the batch on the particular day I went, but the cilantro lime rice was very mushy and over cooked. I'm not sure if Freebirds also uses basmati rice, but the grains were significantly shorter. The rice ruined everything for me.
The vegetables were also mushy and over cooked. The corn salsa didn't have much flavor, which I was disappointed as I'm a big fan of Chipotle's corn salsa. Given that this Murphy location is new, perhaps with more experience, they will get more consistent with how the food is prepared and cooked.
However, customer service was pretty good - the people behind the counter were very kind and attentive. This place is more spacious than the Chipotle down the street, and the interior is newer and cleaner. They do have some more options (I.e more tortilla and sauce variety) compared to its competitors. I didn’t get to taste the chips, but the texture does look very promising based...
Read moreI ordered a monster burrito and a small chips and guac. I placed it online and when I got there I waited an extra 20 minutes after my ready time. They forgot all the sauces that I asked for on the side. I think the staff is just still too new. But at least the good thing is who I assume is the manager gave me all my sauces and also a free queso to make up for the trouble. It seems abnormally bright inside. And their curbside pickup was not working online. While I was waiting there, somebody decided to turn the music up really loud as well. The to go pick up shelf was also confusing because they did not face all the customer name tags towards the outside. And there was a couple bags that didn't have labels at all and I had to look inside of the bags to realize it was not my order. In the amount of chips I received for my regular size order of chips and guac was a joke, I can literally see the bottom of the bag still. Not even a...
