I went specifically for the catfish filets after hearing they use "real" catfish & not what many others seem to use these days, which is sold as catfish. I literally order just the fish & no fixings as I seriously go to eat just the fish. I was in no way disappointed. I order it "crispy," my preference, as many places will tend to pull the fish from the fryer just a bit too early for my liking.
I've not eaten at Martha's for many years, as I've not really been a fan of the food. However, I'm willing to go all out for her fish & may try other dishes in the future. Let me add: they're a local "meat & three" place that is an area favorite. They are always busy & have space to feed many. They are on the N side of Murray, making it not so convenient for me as I come in from the S of Murray.
As usual, with most reviews, everything is relative to personal preference. I tend to be a more picky reviewer with foods based on my personal preferences, but also based on medical reasons. I always encourage folks to give places a try...
ย ย ย Read moreBeen wanting chicken all week. They (Martha's) told me Thursday it is served Tuesday and Sunday. so today i went and they sold me the greasiest piece of chicken i ever saw. When i picked it up it left 1/8 in of crease in tray. I asked server to see if they had better one in kitchen. After waiting 10-15 minutes I left and server saw me in aisle and said they were out of chicken in kitchen. She could have come to my table and told me. She could have asked if I wanted a piece of ham or fish or whatever. All she did was say maybe they would give me a discount at the register. I paid for it and then told girl at register how bad it was. She said if I had told her prior to paying she would have discounted it. I told her that was why i paid first. Didn't want them to think they made up for problem with discount. If lady that usually is server was there she would have made it good somehow but this served didn't seem to care. Been going there for last 2 years but don't...
ย ย ย Read moreFor years I didnโt bother leaving reviews for bad food and service. However, as prices have risen and service and quality has fallen, Iโve started reviewing.
Marthaโs was majorly overhyped. I got the Marthaโs breakfast, which seemed to be a special of the house. However, 2 of the 3 strips of bacon was raw. The over medium eggs were slimy and runny, not even close to over medium. The hashbrowns were sopping in grease. The biscuits and gravy were passable, but thatโs it. The coffee was luke warm right out of the pot.
The server was very rushed and impatient, but I was one of only 4 people in the place early on Sunday morning. When she rushed the food out after just a few minutes, I knew it would be undercooked and it was. Itโs too bad because it could be a good local place.
Donโt fall for the โlocal placeโ hype. It may have been years ago, but itโs no better than McDonaldโs today. Hardeeโs is way better, and Iโm not even a...
