We were seated quickly. Beverages were delivered promptly. It is clean and looks nice inside and out. After about 10 minutes, our waitress, Tammy, returned from her smoke break to take our order. I ordered avocado toast and a side of bacon, and requested a piece of coconut cream pie to go. My companion ordered the Country Breakfast with bacon, rye toast and scrambled eggs. 20 minutes after we placed our order, we realized we might be waiting a while and my companion stepped out to make a call to reschedule an appointment. Tammy stopped by to refill my water and I asked if when she brought our meals, she could also add a piece of chocolate cream pie to-go and bring the check. She opened her book to look at the check and was immediately defensive, "you didn't order a chocolate cream pie." I said, "I ordered a coconut cream pie to-go and my dining companion forgot to order herself a to-go chocolate cream pie. Please add it to our order." The food was finally delivered. My avocado toast arrived without a side of bacon and the country breakfast arrived without pancakes. Tammy told us that she was "sorry because she had been busy taking other orders".
She brought syrup over later and said the pancakes were coming "soon". (The table of four next to us had also ordered a country breakfast or two and their full meals were delivered in a very timely manner) When she delivered the meals to the table next to us (with their pancakes) I asked if she would just bring the pancakes that went with my companion's meal in a to-go box with the pies and bring the check. Tammy was very flustered and said she was trying to hurry. Bad experience. Maybe the pie will be great? Update: Coconut cream pie custard and meringue was good but the crust tasted like the flour used to make it was old.
Must be noted, the people next to us only seemed disappointed by being told the milkshake machine was broken their food seemed to come out in a reasonable time. (Also "The boss" went out of his way to make a...
Read moreThey kept the name but that's all the new owners kept. Used to be one of our go to spots, visited Sunday around 10 and there was a line, no problem. We saw a seat open in the front so when the woman cleared it we took it, she seemed agitated that we sat there. She gave us the menu and told us about the buffet and said off the menu was 45 to 50 minute wait. We ordered off the menu anyway. Coffee was never refilled until we asked a second time, my wife's omlett came out and I was told they were still waiting on mine but gave me my English muffin. So I ate that and finally something close to an omlett came out, funny thing though it was just the omlett no home fries. What I think happened was someone else took my omlett and she told them she needed one on the fly so all they made was an omlett. We were so frustrated by the poor service at this point I didn't even say anything and the server didn't even notice. We ate and were given our check and I set cash out and waited and waited and waited, finally we took most of the cash back, left enough to cover the bill and left. The woman that seated us as we were leaving said bye and when I was half out he door she said to everyone in the front, guess they didn't like it. You got that right, poor experience for a once very good place. Lost another couple customers but doubt...
Read moreI have been going to Dicks for more than 30 years, at least a half a dozen times per year; sometimes more and sometimes less, but enough to think of it as one of the restaurants I would take someone to. I know it’s under new management but I will NEVER go there again.
Today the waitress acted like she was drunk. She couldn’t even get drinks correct- water and raspberry tea for the two of us.
Our food was good. Steve had a cheeseburger with fries and I had a cup of beef barley soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.
When we were done l wanted some to-go containers and a piece of pie to-go also. I watched our waitress talking to two other waitresses instead of talking care of my request and then when she finally came back she said she was taking another customer’s order (she wasn’t, she was talking with coworkers)
The coconut cream pie which is my favorite and I get every time I go, had a funny taste and I couldn’t even eat it. I don’t know what they did, but I never had that happen before.
As far as “atmosphere” I could do without the owner singing loudly while we tried to have dinner and a conversation between the two of us.
Needless to say, after all these years, that’s the last time I will go to Dick’s and I will never...
