Our visits to Overgrown Coffee have been nothing short of a disappointment each time. It's evident that they decided to start offering coffee simply because they could, not because they have any real understanding of coffee. It felt like they were more interested in following the coffee shop trend than in delivering a satisfying coffee experience.
The espresso drinks we’ve ordered have been incredibly sour and bitter, making me question the quality of their beans and the expertise of their baristas. The baristas’ lack of warmth and welcoming attitude was also striking. It's as if they were just going through the motions without any genuine passion for coffee or customer service. The whole atmosphere was oddly stagnant, with everyone standing around aimlessly, adding to the uncomfortable vibe.
I wouldn't recommend this place to any coffee enthusiast. It's clear that this brewery-turned-coffee shop lacks the passion and expertise needed to create a enjoyable coffee experience. Save your money and go somewhere else downtown that actually cares about the art of brewing a good cup of coffee...
Read moreThis place was hard to find because originally I thought it was a bar. That's because it IS a bar. It's a bar and a coffee shop. So if you're confused, it's ok. Just push past that and walk in. It's the place with open vibes and lots of plants. You're about to be in one of the chillest coffee places in Muskegon. The guy behind the counter was nice, and I went on a Sunday to get my homework done. Everybody is just hanging out having a good time milling about. The glasses are cool, the atmosphere is cool. I feel like I'm not cool enough to be here, but I love it. It's like I stumbled in on a secret place and found a safe haven from all the corporatism in the world. Just vibes. I just wish there were baked goods cause I was hungry. While sitting there doing my homework, an impromptu antique market set itself up and I bought some cheap records. Nice. It's probably busier as a bar, but like the coffee is good too....

Kicked off the Muskegon road trip with a stop at Overgrown Coffee Co. The setup is well thought through and efficient: kid's play area, practical seating options, and Lions football on the screens. The coffee? Robust and well-roasted. Food offerings were limited; settled for the hotdogs - they were decent.
The service stood out, no-nonsense, helpful and welcoming. Definitely a local joint where you can settle in...
