Underwhelming. I was really hoping to enjoy my first visit here, but not so much. For starters we were seated right next to the kitchen even though other tables were available. And other patrons were crammed in around us, still with other tables available. And the entire place was really loud. Loud as in hard to carry on a conversation with the people at our table and hard to hear the waitress. The menu had pub food, handhelds, burgers, salads, and BBQ. When we asked the waitress what she recommended/liked she right off said the pork BBQ and pork chops and then went on to recite the entire menu. So not really recommending anything in particular but also recommending everything. The people we were with said they heard the BBQ was good. So again asked the waitress which she’d recommend the pork or brisket and she said the pork. People in our party were persuaded and 2 pork platters were ordered and 1 pork sandwich and the fried chicken. With that behind us we could start to socialize and converse. Nope. Waitress came back only to share they were out of pork but only for the platters. Had pork for the pork sandwich (???? Pork is pork….enough for a sandwich but not for a platter???hmmmm.). So the 2 pork platters switched to the less popular brisket. And so having placed our order for the second time, we could continue to socialize and converse. Nope. Waitress came back to say now they were out of pork for sandwiches too. SURPRISE! Ok, …. Switch to the white cheddar chicken burger. Luckily the restaurant had all the ingredients for our tables’ THIRD order. Food arrived with cold sweet potato fries for my side (with the white cheddar chicken burger). And I don’t mean they had cooled slightly. They were cold. Moving on to the sandwhich. It was mammoth, too big to eat and required a knife and fork. It wasn’t a burger as listed but a fried chicken breast. Unfortunate since I could have ordered the fried chicken outright if that’s what I wanted. The lettuce was limp so I took that off right away. The cheddar was melted on the chicken and resembled a watery queso sauce and it didn’t add any flavor. The brisket was fatty but flavorful for those who had it. The venue has a nice enclosed patio area as well as seasonal seating...
Read moreThis amazing picture on their reviews prompted us to go in tonight.
8/28/2021, initially we were going for a birthday celebration, but man, the attitude of the wait staff, the lack of follow thru on their meal preparation, lack of communication and the wait makes this reviewer black list this restaurant.
Do not go here, you will be sorry!
I ordered the BBQ Sandwich, what I got was a plain bun, with a drizzle of BBQ sauce, with pate chicken (the kind used for chicken salad, not pulled chicken), without the Cole slaw, because it wasn't added in the kitchen.
I have a food allergy to onions, I asked for my deep fried ones to be on the side - they were, buried under cold fries - our meal had sat in the window for a long time, possibly a good 40 minutes before we got it.
At the end of our meal, I jumped on their web site to find the menu, to see why my meal turned out the way it had, according to the BBQ Sandwich information "Cole Slaw" should have been ON the sandwich.
The Bowl Royale comes with Ahi tuna, the waitress didn't ask if the way the tuna comes is okay for my elderly mother. There was no communication on any of the menu, waitress didn't ask if we had questions, just assumed we'd know the menu? My mother sent her dish back and asked for a Caesar Salad, what she got was Romaine Swords (Spears) drizzled with salty dressing and a few croutons. She told the waitress that she's never been served a salad like this before, the waitress said she could get her a knife?
The King burger was well loved by my 3rd party, he only requests to put less Collard Greens on it, that way you can actually taste all of the flavors instead of just them. The fries need a different way to be served, as they were also cold, soggy and limp.
Super long wait for food, we realize its COVID season again, but surely with all the chefs walking around, and chatting with patrons, a 50 minute wait for easy food shouldn't have...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at 44 and King in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and it was truly an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed with the ample, free parking and the immaculate condition of the parking lot.
Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately struck by the elegant and clean ambiance. The interior boasts a tasteful combination of table, & booth seating, a well-appointed bar area, and a charming outside covered patio. It's clear that every detail has been carefully considered to create a high-class atmosphere.
What truly sets 44 and King apart, though, is their exceptional staff. The team is not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. They are more than happy to guide you through the culinary delights that await.
Speaking of the food, it's nothing short of fantastic. I had the pleasure of trying several freshly prepared dishes, and each one exceeded my expectations. However, the pot roast is a standout star - it's hands down the best I've ever tasted. And let's not forget the burger, an absolute masterpiece of culinary perfection. I paired it with collard greens as a side dish versus as a condiment on the burger, and they were a delightful complement.
To top it all off, 44 and King offers a full bar with an excellent selection. Whether you're a fan of craft cocktails or fine wines, they have something to satisfy your palate.
In summary, 44 and King is a culinary gem in Myrtle Beach. With its ample free parking, clean and elegant interior, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a menu that includes standout dishes like the pot roast and the perfect burger, it's a dining experience that exudes high-class professionalism and will leave you with a very positive impression. Don't miss the opportunity to savor the outstanding cuisine and ambiance at...
