Had a great experience here. Atmosphere is very simple and straight forward. Place was clean and tidy. Service was fine. This is a mom and pop style place. If you're expecting them to slap out the food, that's not what happens. You're gonna have to wait a little bit here and there. The folks running the place are quite nice. They get a little bit in the weeds, but they do check on you. I personally don't have a problem with that. If you do, perhaps you'd be happier at PF Changs or some other chain.
Now, about the food. It is fantastic! I ordered the Shrimp Apollo, the Pork Banh Mi, Bún bò Huế, and a Vietnamese Coffee. Haven't had the Apollo before but it was a really neat change from the standard Spring Rolls. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and they were very fresh. The Bún bò Huế was quite excellent. The broth was savory and bursting with flavor, and not too salty. A nice show of restraint. The meat was tender, no tough or rubbery bits and they give you plenty of fresh basil, cilantro, cabbage and bean sprouts. There's a whole host of available sauces on the table, so you can doctor things up to personal taste if you like. The pork Banh Mi was fantastic. The bread was toasted crispy, the pork had wonderful savory flavor and there were plenty pickled veggies and cilantro. Excellent.
I snagged the Vietnamese coffee on the way out the door. They are doing this the traditional way with the drip, so gonna take a second. Well worth it. Coffee is good and strong and just sweet enough. Nice balance.
Overall, I'm glad I found this little place. I will most...
Read moreViet Kitchen has high quality AUTHENTIC Vietnamese food. My family and I are on vacation visiting SC and we're looking for AUTHENTIC tasting Vietnamese food. I (American born) have been eating Vietnamese food for 20 years as my wife and in-laws are from Vietnam so we have high expectations for the authenticity of the taste for Vietnamese food. 10 years ago during our last visit to SC, no real Vietnamese restaurants existed. Now 10 years later, a few exist. Viet kitchen is by far the best in the area. The prices are good and the service is excellent! As a comparison, (first place we tried in SC) Pho Clair is very expensive and completely over priced. Pho Clair has good pho but everything else is not true to the recipe of Vietnamese cuisine. Viet Kitchen is worth your time and money to try if you want to experience true Vietnamese food, such as their Spicy beef soup (Bun bo Hue) and frankly everything else they have to offer. It taste like what my Vietnamese in-laws make at home and not the water down version that most restaurants serve to people who are not familiar with the real taste. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. She definitely cares about her business and providing her customers with a great experience. We have already eaten at Viet kitchen twice since arriving at SC,...
Read moreThis was an amazing place to go. Ive eaten vietnamese food all over the world and this really hit a homerun. It was the first time I had Bun Bo Hue and it didnt disappoint. Bun Bo Hue is beef pho sexy cousin and this place did really well. The beautiful lady that was my server was kind and courteous plus helped me charge my phone when it was dying. The vietnamese coffee is skrong and tasty. Its been hours since ive blinked so be aware its way stronger than redbull. Give this place a try its worth it. From a foodie that has been around this wonderful planet you wont find better. The owners are from Vietnam and my server is from Hue (South of Da Nang). Spring rolls and peanut sauce also on point. Update 09/01/25: I tried the grilled pork, egg roll, with shrimp with noodles dish today and it was amazing. The pork was the star of the show on this dish. The special sauce ( nuoc cham) was delicious that adds tons of flavor. I cant recommend this place enough. This dish is a bit pricey but i think its worth it. I also think the portion size is adequate for what you pay for this dish. Stop reading and go eat...
