We went in for the 1st time ever, for Taco Tuesday & were very disappointed. Taco Truck is the only beer on special for $5, but like many mediocre beers it was tasty for less than 1 beer, the 2nd was progressively tasting worse the more I drank it so I didn't even finish it. All the beers ($7-$9) ought to be discounted like many restaurants offer. The street tacos were fair but not worth $5 for two. The fish tacos and carnitas nachos were extremely bland, not what you expect with Mexican food! The Curry almonds were moist & soft, zero crunch associated with nuts, we sent them back, fortunately removed from the check. The ala carte add ons are many & bland as well, plus tiny i.e. pico de gallo, guacamole, cilantro & onion. I noted that Monday's burger 🍔 night you pay extra for each & every "add on" even lettuce 🥬 is an upcharge. It reminded me of a budget airline where everything is considered an extra. It's a very strange type of marketing, one I've never come across. We both really wanted to like it& were hoping to find a new spot, especially for happy hour but it's doubtful we'll return. We're easily pleased but also know when it's sub par. Our waitress was attentive & pleasant, no complaints there! Happy hour was created to bring people in during the slow time of day, but the restaurant needs to show appreciation by giving the midday customers delicious food reflecting reasonable choices and decent discounts for dining at "odd times" The place was packed & everyone seemed satisfied but then if something is popular, it doesn't mean that it's good. I typically don't post negative reviews but this one unfortunately is well deserved. The owners need to determine what's going on with their kitchen staff! I cooked in Aspen for 5 years, then in the front of the house for 10, so my experience adds credibility to my opinions. Don't shoot the messenger, I'm being...
Read moreWow! We just discovered this new neighborhood place in the shopping center where Genova Deli is on Trancas. It's about time they had a place in the 'hood where we don't have to deal with downtown parking. Reasonable prices and good portions for being "tapas". We love great veggie dishes and you could feast on those alone here - grilled brussels sprouts, hericot verts, asiago potatoes, great pear salad - all fresh. We had the skirt steak with chimichuri - delicious. And the Queen of the Valley cocktail with Limoncello & Lavender syrup - EXCELLENT, and I don't even drink hard liquor! They even have good music on, not too obtrusive, some cool oldies. Comfie seating and very nice neighborhood vibe. And, being a foodie, I appreciate them giving each table their OWN pepper grinder and you dont have to ask for one. We'll be BACK every weekend!! And they're...
Read moreLove the atmosphere of this place and the server was nice, but the oysters on the half shell were very bland even with citrus and warm ( not served over ice ) and we ask for a med rare filet mingon but it came out well done. We didn't want to wait for another so we ended up just eating it, but I bet it would have been way better med rare. Would love to come back and try the food again because maybe it was just an off night, but besides that the restaurant was comfy...
