The Food Mill Kitchen — Restaurant in Napa

The Food Mill is open again under new ownership. I went to the Food Mill this week with a friend of mine for a beer. First time in there under the new ownership. Very impressive. They have cleaned up the place in a huge way, which was sorely needed. It is bright, smells clean, which is sorely needed It is obvious that these guys are committed to making this work and are willing to do what it takes to make that happen. The one thing I noticed, and we talked about it, is that their prices are too low, way too low. They should be in the $12-$14 for a range for a deli sandwich if they are going to survive. The furnishings are a bit sparse, but they have a business plan that they are following to add things as they go along and it will only continue to improve. Please give these guys a chance and patronize their business. We really do need businesses, and people like this in our community. If you are visiting the valley this is a great place to get food to take with you for a wine tasting or a picnic, or if you need a relaxing place to just sit for a few and enjoy some good food and staff that is appreciative that...

I went to grab some food to go. Spaghetti.. kid friendly for sure. Kinda sweet, I like mine a little spicy. Beet salad was great, I added a little more vinegar cause, like I said I’m a little spicy/sour patch kid. I find it’s better to start out safe and friendly and be able to add salt/ heat/acid to taste because, while you ca always add to taste, you can’t remove salt or spice. My last time in, I grabbed some crab cakes and I’m excited to try them out, but haven’t gotten to them because I also noticed the tortas on my way out and when I inquired, George said, “if you like spicy… ”, that’s all I needed to hear. The Mexican torta is insane. 🤤 ¡Riquísimo! Im excited for their future. I really want them to succeed. I think they’re onto something great and they will really kick off when the community realizes what they’ve got going on and start to support them more. If you think parking is tight, it’s really not. It’s so easy to get in and out of there especially because They cater a lot to grab and go, but they do have a bar area if you wanna pull up and have a beer, a meal, or snack, and hang...

Order was not as described. Guy behind the counter was rude. When I just said I was here to pick up an order, he just looked at me for about fifteen seconds, tilted his head and said, "It's over there." Ok, buddy, like I'm supposed to know where you keep the pick up orders, as a first time customer...

Steak and cheese was requested with no onions or peppers. It was literally just steak, cheese and bread. No mayo, lettuce or tomato included as per the menu. Fries were described as having a coating of seasoning for an added crunch. They were plain. Bottle of soda was packed with hot food, so it was warm by the time I drove 5 minutes to eat. Maybe just keep the drinks in the cooler five feet away until the customer shows up to retrieve it.

Very underwhelming and I almost instantly knew it would be based on physical appearance. Maybe it's a great spot for a beer and a slice of pizza, but I wouldn't expect any satisfying meal to come...
