Iāve eaten here a few times and always found it to be the superior Chinese food spot in Napa⦠until we ordered take out the other night. I will never dine here again. It seemed as though any of the food that we ordered that had to be prepared and a pan (fried rice, chow mein) came with an overwhelming odor and flavor of what I can only describe as a chemical/butane/rancid oil/dirty old oil. Other food that we got that was deep fried still had the smell and flavor, but not as bad. Iām not the type to leave reviews like this, but this has honestly been bothering me for days. We shouldāve called immediately to see about a refund or to allow them to remake it but we were so exhausted and hungry we let it go in the moment. I donāt know why we saved the leftovers, maybe I thought I was being crazy and it will be fine in the morning. But now I still smell that chemical rancid smell in my fridge. This isnāt the typical greasy food smell. Iāve worked in restaurants for years and something is definitely wrong here⦠either Wah Sing does not wash their pans properly at all, or they reuse their oil way too often, or all of the above. But I will never trust food from this place again after experiencing that chemical/battery acid,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn the past, our dine-in experience with Wah Sing has been positive. Our, to go, experience on 5/15/24 was extremely disappointing. I placed a to go order when the restaurant opened at 4:00 pm. The spicy green beans were disgustingly slimy and had absolutely no flavor. The green beans looked like they had been made earlier in the day and then reheated. They were tossed in the trash. The vegetable chow mein had something in it that tasted rancid/moldy. It was tossed in the trash. The vegetable egg foo young was undercooked and the sauce on it was very watery and lacked flavor. It was not their usual rich, thick sauce. The only item that was slightly eatable was the sweet and sour chicken. Even that had an off taste. What a waste of money. Next time we will go to Panda Express. At least at Panda it is made fresh when ordered. Like a lot of people, we have not eaten out in months due to finances. We decided to treat ourselves, except it was not a treat at all. It was an overwhelming disappointment. If I lived closer to the restaurant, I would have taken the food back and asked for a refund. But, with the price of gas and the distance I would have to drive it would cost...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood: My wife and i had the spring rolls which were incredible! Probably the best i've ever had in my life. The chicken chow mein was amazing as well. What really ruined our entire meal though was the pineapple chicken. In the entirety of the dish there wasn't really that much chicken. What little chicken there was tasted utterly disgusting, and my wife and i didn't even take a second bite. The dish itself was mostly huge chunks of pineapple, carrots, and water chestnuts. All of which was lathered in a pineapple glaze with the texture of maple syrup. The dish itself needs to be either taken off the menu, or restructured entirely, because it tasted like complete trash. Service: All of the personnel were kind, constantly refilled drinks, and brought our food out in a timely manner. Overall: I won't be back. Kind of feel cheated out of what should have been a great meal. Makes me wonder if management actually tests out the food they serve before slapping it onto a menu. Please save yourselves a few bucks and a potentially bad meal by just going to Panda Express right...
