Nobody replied to the following email to Darian Dickerson, Operations Manager. Maybe this review on Tripadvisor will get their attention.||BEGIN EMAIL: Hello Darian, Thank you for replying to my online response to “How Was Your Stay?” ||Let me recap the issue. I was surprised to see that I was charged $15 for parking because there was no mention of a parking fee when booking the reservation and no mention of a parking fee in the emailed confirmation. And the young women at the front desk did not mention a parking fee when we checked in and they gave us a slip to put on the dashboard. They were polite and professional, so I assume they were not instructed to inform the guests of a parking fee. Or perhaps they were instructed to not disclose it.||This Hampton is surrounded by acres of asphalt shared with the gym and movie theaters for whose customers parking is free. It is not a city hotel where a parking fee is expected. With multiple clicks on this hotel’s website, I was able to uncover a pet fee of $75 and a parking fee of $10—not $15.||On your website today, I see that the parking fee has been “corrected” to $15. You should thank me for bringing this mistake to your attention.||More importantly, as of July 1st of this year, hiding this $15 fee is illegal under Section 1770(a)(29) of the California Civil Code which states the following is an illegal deceptive practice: ||29) (A) Advertising, displaying, or offering a price for a good or service that does not include all mandatory fees or charges other than either of the following:||(i) Taxes or fees imposed by a government on the transaction… Etc.||To be clear, the law doesn’t say you can’t charge for parking. It says you can’t display a price that doesn’t disclose a charge for parking.||You could try to argue that the parking fee can remain a hidden surprise for the guest to discover after checking out because it isn’t “mandatory.” But when almost every guest is parking a vehicle, I don’t think that argument would hold up--END OF EMAIL ||By the way, I checked a few other nearby Hamptons on the Hilton.com website that all follow the same reservation format. Those other Hamptons do not disclose a parking fee when making a reservation, but it's not illegal because for them...
Read moreAfter being checked in by an unfriendly receptionist, we were directed to a small elevator that was in the middle of being refurbished. It had blue tape all over and different carpet tiles taped to the floor with duct tape. There was a sign in the elevator: “We are getting a new look!” Well, it was new all right, but it wasn’t good. The carpets were dirty. Loud construction work was going on early in the morning. In the hallways, two ear-splitting, industrial-sized machines were plugged in day and night. I am not sure what was the purpose of these machines - they looked like vacuum cleaners that were sucking up moisture. I suppose they had some kind of flooding or sewage problem. The ceiling panels in the hallway were popped open and dust and dirt were falling on the carpets. The place looked like a bomb had exploded in it. ||Our room was terrible. It had a small window that did not open. The AC was loud and regurgitated the same stale, dirty area around the room. At night my husband and I would wake up with dry mouths, gasping for oxygen. The air in the hallway with dirty carpets, and dust pouring down of the gaping holes in the ceiling was a better quality. Several times I opened the door and shoved air from the hallway in. ||There was a green blinking light right above my bed. Outside the window, a glaring bright red neon sign, Hampton Inn & Suites, reminded us of the terrible mistake we made coming here. ||I asked the receptionist to change our room. I told her that last year we were placed on the side facing the river and asked if she could give us a room there again. I was told rather condescendingly "Those rooms cost more!" Even though last year I booked the same type of room for the same days and paid for it about the same...They just did not want to make our stay more comfortable. ||We did not enjoy our stay. At check out, we were overcharged with about 50 dollars. I contested the charge and asked to get a breakdown of the price. They told me that that was a “parking fee.” A parking fee for an outdoor parking lot that nobody is monitoring? Every hotel has a parking lot. I have never been charged an additional parking fee just to park our...
Read moreHilton gold here. We traveled to Napa from out of state and stayed for a night on 5/12/24. When looking up the hotel's location on Google map, we saw that it's close to a busy road (Imola Ave) so we called the hotel and requested a quiet room away from the road due to concern with the noise (all of us are light sleepers). ||||The room we got was indeed away from the road...but right behind the electrical room next to the elevator which was making a huge low-frequency noise that penetrated our room - so loud that it was impossible to sleep. We spoke with the front desk immediately and wished to change to a different room, but were told the hotel was sold out for the night and they had never heard of any complaints about this noise, which I found funny because unless you're deaf, you'd be bothered by it. Alright, we'd sleep with earbuds on, not a big issue and we understood. No other complaints about the hotel itself. ||||The next day we had to leave early to catch our flight before breakfast started at 7AM. We spoke with the front desk and were told that they could prepare some to-go bags with a quick breakfast inside. Amazing, or we thought...||||We grabbed those bags in the morning, thanked the staff, and headed to the airport. One of us was so hungry that they opened the bag immediately and finished the bagel inside on the way. When I finally opened my bag at the airport, I noticed my bagel was so grossly MOLDED. There were also mold marks on the bag of the bagel that had been consumed. It's impossible to not notice if the staff inspected the food before packing it (the bagle was pre-packaged but you can see inside). ||||I threw away the bagel immediately, and the one of us who ate the bagel felt sick after seeing the mold (you'd do too) but luckily didn't seem to have food poisoning so we decided to just take off instead of go to the hospital. I honestly did not think this should be the quality of service we should receive for $300+ a night at a Hilton hotel. Very...
