Ellie's Deli — Restaurant in Naperville

I'm SO excited about the opening of their new location!! (Finally!!) We've gone months without being able to order from them & they serve crave-worthy sandwiches - the struggle is real. This was the first restaurant we visited when we moved to Naperville and we fell in love with the food & the staff, immediately! We've never had a bad experience at Ellie's - the exact opposite, in fact. The husband & wife who own/run the deli are charming, kind & helpful; they recognized us our 2nd visit & asked us if we enjoyed our food & offered suggestions on what to try next, (even giving a sample of a few of their delicious salads). The person who recommended Ellie's Deli to us also warned us that it is not a "fast" food restaurant & to expect a 20min wait for the order to be ready. The food is absolutely phenomena & definitely worth the waitl!!! We did, however, order ahead (via phone) when we knew we'd be pressed for time & it eliminated the wait completely. The benefit of the wait is knowing that your food is fresh & made-to-order. They offer a great selection of sandwiches, wraps, deli salads & fried sides. Our favorites have been the Brazilian steak sandwich, the Philly cheese steak sandwich, their chicken salad, the orzo pasta salad, the turkey wrap, the tortellini salad & several of their soups. Most sandwiches are served with their delicious, homemade, potato chips. I definitely recommend Ellie's Deli! You really can't go wrong with their varied menu & exceptional...

Today was my first ever visit to this business. Their lunch special was an attractive offer, as I have seen it earlier in their window. I phoned in my order ahead and I was asked to allow 15 minutes prior to picking up my order. My order was ready for me when I arrived. I was greeted and I paid for my meal and left. I am a retired chef and have 15 years of restaurant experience working in extremely challenging and very stressful moments when the restaurant fills with walk in customers who are under the assumption that they will be in and out in five minutes. At times I really wish it worked that way for me as well but that couldn't be further from the truth. Compound that with CoVid and a dire shortage of the ability to find anyone willing to put on an apron and rise to that level of challenge. Perhaps we could lower all of our levels of high expectations by simply having compassion in some capacity towards these businesses and individuals who are doing all they can to meet the demands of customers who are easily disappointed and believe that waiting is unacceptable in an unfortunate unprecedented time. Please call ahead. It will save a lot of time and we can get past this together. I will definitely return to Ellie's Deli and thank them each time for all of their service and efforts to remain...

I went there yesterday to buy a Reuben sandwich on hamburger day. Sorry, don’t like hamburgers. The Reuben sandwich was to die for. Owner makes it himself to perfection.

His daughter Tina allowed me to sample 4 unique salads. I ended up buying the largest containers of 3 salads bc they were so delicious. Fancy names I don’t recall except for the spaghetti salad.

While seated, owner brought me and another customer some Brazilian steak he just cooked to sample. It was beyond belief delicious. Next time I will order it. He also brought us his own home made chips to try which were perfectly seasoned, very crunchy and extravagantly tasteful.

I did buy a pound and a half of pastrami to take home which I sampled and was also superb.

Tina and her Dad were a unique team. Their hospitality and attention to every detail and requests of their customers was amazing. I did not feel like I was in a deli. They made u feel like u were in a 7 Star restaurant on top of a high rise in Dubai.

My only complaint to them is they should be open to 11pm instead of 7pm so the rest of Naperville can...
