Our servers were absolutely spectacular. The lady that was training did a wonderful job communicating with her trainer. They were pretty busy but catered to every request we had. However the downside of our experience at Gia Mia did not come from the service but rather from the food and drinks. First of all, your by the glass service was atrocious. The Red House wine came cold in a glass from the Bar. I am Italian, never in my life do we ever serve Red Wine cold, especially the house wine. House should always have a higher rotation than the rest of the Reds by the glass so you guys mist always have a bottle cracked open sitting on the counter at room Temp. Cold Red just tastes flat. The Pea and Burrata Toast was completely unseasoned. I liked the idea, but the execution lacked. Also, it’s never a good idea to Melt fresh Burrata and just smear on a toast. Why not just use it fresh with Fresh Peas? The highly anticipated pizzas came in with a very soft and chewy dough. I don’t believe it was the cooking process because the char was there. It was rather the flour or the dough was just rushed. Another theory I have is the Deck of the oven was way too hot and they just pushed the pizza out too quick so the moisture stayed. Overall was just a mediocre pizza, at a place that advertises itself on Crispy well done Craft...
Read moretldr; delicious food, cutesy atmosphere, GREAT service!!
As someone who works in the area, and has heard wonderful things about this restaurant, I was very excited to bring my mom for my first experience! Thank you to the wonderful woman who hung out to chat with us at around 7:30pm last night once we were seated (I'm so sorry I never got your name!). My mother, who is notoriously a particular eater, loved your recommendation of the Paccheri Vodka dish!
Our server, Mark, was delightful and made us feel as comfortable as if we were right at home! I cannot speak highly enough about this experience, and Mark's kind and friendly nature really made this one-off dinner into returning customers. Thank you Mark for making our small mother-daughter outing into a memorable experience!
Wonderful service aside, the food was just as return-worthy! As spinach artichoke dip enjoyers, my mother and I were quite impressed with the Spinach + Artichoke Fonduta - high praise from us! My Pear + Caramelized Onion pizza was soooo so yummy and I could see myself ordering it a million times again (though I could eat through the entire pizza menu once just to experience their enticing variety).
It seems there aren't enough words to praise this team and their efforts - 5 star...
Read moreThis has become our #1 go-to place in downtown. Whenever we don’t want to make dinner, or can’t decide where to go, we default to Gia Mia cuz it will always fit the need and deliver.
Food is always good, portions are consistent visit to visit (personal pet peeve of mine otherwise), and service efficient. The decor is on the higher-end and gives off a much “fancier” vibe than other Gia Mia’s, and sitting on their patio in spring/summer is really lovely. The pricing is also crazy reasonable for downtown - no gouging here!
Favorites for us are the Orecchiette (seasonal, argh!), the mushroom toast or peas toast (also seasonal, boo), Bolognese, Kale salad w the bacon, and Livia pizza. But you really can’t go wrong with any of the menu, cuz they actually season consistently and appropriately here!
Service is always responsive. We’ve even had the hostess go above and beyond before for us.
It’s a good place to bring big families, a good place for kids, a good business lunch place, and a good date night place. I can’t think of a single bad thing to say. The consistency of their performance is something I wish other restaurants would learn from.
Definitely give them a try if you haven’t yet. And hope they stay operating for a long, long time...
