This is my favorite Korean establishment in the area, period, and I have been to ALL of them. If you are craving authentic Korean food, this is your place. The food is cooked with care, and the preparation is not rushed. This is important if you value quality, so don’t come here if you want a meal in 5 minutes. The wait is 5-10 mins when not busy, and 15-30 at peak business. If it’s a long wait, they always let you know in advance, so go take a quick trip to Jewel or Amazon Fresh while you await an amazing meal. This is a smaller family restaurant, and if you are willing to be patient, the food is definitely worth the wait! The owner is polite and the establishment (including restroom) is spotlessly clean! I am surprised it took me 5 years of living here to know this place existed, as the name ‘Gumii’ is not easily recognized as Korean food, but better late than never! Very fortunate to have such delicious food and kind owners at this...
Read moreVisited over the weekend and decided to try this place out. It definitely did not disappoint as the food was delicious! I ordered the Gumii Bulgogi and took a seat as I had decided to dine in. The place is meticulously clean and spacious as you can tell the owner takes pride in having a clean restaurant. It was just myself and another customer dining in with his kids so I cannot comment on how loud it would be with a full dining area, especially during these times. The owner brought my order to my table very quickly and stated if there was anything else I needed to let him know. The dish was a delight and I can't find anything negative to say about it. Afterwards, the owner asked if I enjoyed my meal and thanked me for coming in. He genuinely cares and makes sure you are satisfied from the moment you walk in until you leave. I will definitely be back and recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal, you won't be...
Read moreA good decent Korean cuisine place. Very close to Amazon Fresh in the strip mall off 95th and 59th - so a good location as well.
I had beef Gumii bulgogi which is served with sesame seeds on top and served with a cup size rice, some broccoli, kimchi and a small section cut off of fried egg with some vegetables inside. Tasted good, but I've had better at other places.
It definitely seems like a family-owned and run restaurant. Usual signs: Family kids work at the register. Personal belongings like purses, laptops, coffee or other kinds of things are in the hallway. Stuff they use to pass time when they are not working.
Don't get me wrong. They're great people and wonderful family like service so no issues there.
One odd thing: They charged a separate tax for Naperville in addition to State tax 🤔
Btw, it took 18 minutes for the food to come out even though they were not that busy. Hopefully...
