Kung Fu Tea — Restaurant in Naperville

If you like drinking bathroom potpourri for a plain original milk tea, I guess you have your place? I would like to call myself a sort of MT connoisseur. I’ve tried almost of places in Naperville area (elite, gong cha, vivi, special tea, etc), and definitely a ton in Chicago/Chinatown ones (gathers, tiger sugar, elitea, uni uni, KFT in Chinatown, etc). Was excited to have another major chain in Naperville. What a disappointment! Their plain MT just does not compare to the other stores. It tasted like an entire lavender plant was brewed in it. I cannot believe I am saying this, but I had to throw away my drink. I am an originalist and whenever I try new places, I try the most basically MT to compare across the board, so my review is based on this drink.

Also tried the cocoa wow and mango green tea. Those were okay, not amazing, but also not bad. Even with BOGO and my deal saving heart, I cannot bring myself to go back for a redo.

I was waiting in line when a family in front of me had their order taken without any issue at the register. Then, a phone order came in, and the employee proceeded to take that as well before my order. Even after standing there for a few more minutes, he made no eye contact and continued with other tasks instead of acknowledging me.

What concerned me even more was that he handled cash twice without washing his hands before proceeding to make drinks.

I then noticed a tablet screen for placing orders, so I started my order there. When I tried to pay, I had trouble processing my rewards. I repeatedly told him it wasn’t working, and he simply said, “Log out and start over.” I did, but it still didn’t work. Eventually, he said, “I guess I can take your order here.”

When I asked if he needed my phone number for the rewards program, he rudely responded twice, “No, I need your order!” That was the last straw. His unprofessional attitude made me walk out without placing an order.

Amazing place, some of the best boba I've ever had! My favorite drink is the honey oolong milk tea, definitely a must try. Staff is super friendly and welcoming, I always come out with a smile! There are so many options and even hanging out inside is great too. I often see many people playing board games, studying, or just having a chat with their friends. The atmosphere is incredibly lively, and there is always a special collab or deal going on through their instagram or app. What else could you possibly ask for? Food!!! They just started selling food here too, and I've only had the popcorn chicken, but it's absolutely delicious and definitely worth having. One last thing, their croffles take a bit longer to make but the wait is worth it. Banana nutella and oreo are my go-to croffles, and I love ordering them online in advance so their ready for me to pick up any time.
