This was my first time here and I was very disappointed. My two stars are for the food. Service would be zero. Our food was okay, average for diner food. When we walked in, two female workers were just sitting down talking. I stood half way between the door and where they were sitting expecting them to get up, but they didn't move although they were starting right at me while still talking, till I walked directly in front of them. We almost just walked right back out the door which I wish we would've done. Our waitress Georgia wasn't any better. She was not personable or friendly, unless that's how she is. She was very short and abrupt. Since I'd never been here I asked about getting the specialty pancakes or specialty waffles and if they came with eggs, she said no. I asked if I could get eggs she said no. I said seriously, you can't supplement anything to give me some eggs? She said no. Then she said so you need more time then. Really?!? I said no and just got a burger which was not what I wanted. I've never been to a diner that would not give me eggs with specialty pancakes. We were still eating and she gave us the bill and stood there waiting till we put the tip in her handheld. I don't like that. I feel that's pushy just standing there waiting. I always tip 20% plus, but didn't feel I had service worth anything near that, so I was going to give her 15%, but they have the machine set up to select 18%, 20%, 22%. I've never seen that at a diner. If your going to set your tipping percentages higher than the norm, then this place needs to work on improving their customer service. When we left, I didn't expect much. Those same ladies were still sitting there at the front and didn't even say goodbye, have a good day, nothing. Maybe my expectations are high, but I've never experienced such...
Read moreSaturday, June 29th @ 7am My boyfriend and I were greeted by the hostess (She was nice) we got sat, and took a rather long time trying to figure out what we wanted, I mean everything sounded really good. I ordered a French toast combo with over easy eggs and ham. My man ordered the country man skillet with a side of the blueberry pancakes. When that food came we wasted NO TIME and got right into it. The eggs were done PERFECTLY over easy and the French toast was crispy on the edges and fluffy inside. They were so delicious and I smeared it into the blueberry sauce and oh my gosh. And while I can’t speak for my man, he did slide me some generous bites of his skillet right into my egg yolk and… mhhh. He also ordered some drinks including the horchata espresso coffee and a dirty soda with Dr.Pepper which he said they could have been much better. I did try them both and can say that the horchata was watered down which we expressed to our lovely waitress and she brought him another shot of espresso to comp which he appreciated. With the dirty soda he did Dr.P and said that it would have been better had it been a can instead of the machine. Other then the drinks everything was excellent and we enjoyed our time and the food. Our waitress who’s name we didn’t know but if she reads this she’ll know haha. She was very nice and we appreciated her smiling even though it was 7am in the morning 🥺 cause I know I couldn’t do that. If you are thinking about Honey Jam or Tasty Biscuit…. Do...
Read moreI will start stating that our family loves the Honey-Jam on Bolingbrook, but we wanted to give this one on Naper Blvd a try, since it’s closer to our home. I believe most people who go to a brunch place wants to celebrate something or enjoy the company and conversation with someone special. I came in with my daughter for a special Mother-Daughter day and we felt that we were rushed at all times even the second we entered the door. We still had an hour and a half until the restaurant would close, so this felt pretty unwelcoming. For me, the most important part of visiting a restaurant is the energy, the atmosphere, the warmth and interest of staff and feeling at ease, second to that would be the food, which of course is important too. I didn’t feel any care (I want to say love) for anything they did for us today. The food was out faster than we finished ordering it, which seemed strange but we realized it was because it wasn’t fresh at all. My daughter’s waffles were cold and not crunchy, the 3 pieces of chicken tenders were ridiculously tiny (and cold). My avocado toast was okay but the tomato tasted funny, like perhaps rotten. Overall the restaurant looks nice, modern and fairly clean, but we will definitely never come back. We felt nobody wanted to be working at that particular moment and we were only a burden that they needed to get over with ASAP. Even though nobody was rude to us , we didn’t feel comfortable and couldn’t enjoy our special...
