Just blown away. All I can say. I’ve lived in the area a very long time, only recently discovered Charred. Had dinner with my father. 1st of all, I emailed the restaurant for a couple wine suggestions ahead of dinner because my Dad likes red wine but I know nothing about it, and since it was my treat, I wanted to be able to order us some with dinner and kinda seem like I knew what I was doing. The general manager called me personally the next morning. He spoke to me for about 10 minutes, trying to find a nice wine to match with our meal (we went with the Austin Hope Cab, which was excellent). I was thoroughly impressed that the GM would take the time to personally call me and spend 10 minute trying to get the right wine for me. For dinner, we had the scallop appetizer. We both agreed they were probably the best scallops we had ever had. Salads and sides were very good, but not eye-popping. The steaks, on the other hand, were among the top 2-3 each of us has ever had. We both got the Japanese A1 Wagu. Cooked absolutely to perfection. They were like chewing on warm butter they were so tender. Phenomenal flavor. Just perfect in every way. Wine paired perfectly with them. My Dad had crème brûlée for dessert, which he said was the #1 best he’s ever had. I had blueberry cheesecake, which was also wonderful. Wonderful atmosphere, a small, intimate, and well lit dining room. Maybe 15 tables at most? Open kitchen with barstool seating if you preferred to watch your food being prepared. While the food was certainly the star of the show, our waiter was a close second. I wish I had gotten his name. Decent sized guy, probably late 30s/early 40s, with a neatly trimmed beard. We wouldn’t see him at all, then the second a glass was empty or a plate needed cleared, he instantly appeared. Very friendly and personable without chatting too much as to interrupt our meal. When we did express interest or asked about something, he was very knowledgeable and gave us great insight and background about the topic. It was a little pricey, but for 2 A1 Wagus, good wine, and a full meal with apps, sides, salads, and desserts it was well worth it. Not just a meal, but an experience. Absolute perfection, from the call from the GM to our waiter and the atmosphere to the breathtaking meal we shared. I couldn’t pick out a single flaw in our entire experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an upscale dining experience with amazing steaks (they have other options too, of course, but we were there for the steaks). We will most definitely be repeat customers. Thank you so much to everyone involved with our meal, from the GM to our server to the excellent chefs....
Read moreLocal Naples Chef & Local Naples Guide. I stopped into J.P. Charred for lunch, finally, for the first time, have yet to visit for dinner. I ordered the Jalapeño Cheese Burger with Tater Tots, side of J.P. burger sauce. I need to tell the people of Naples & the entire world! Their jalapeño burger was literally everything I desire in a cheeseburger & more! It was the very best cheeseburger I've ever had out in my life, literally not being dramatic. I don't even think I could make one as good. Their char-broiler (grill) makes the burgers taste like they used to back in the day, when char-broilers were char-broilers! It's the char-broiler "grill" combined with the high-quality beef products that are making these burgers outshine anything I've ever had, at least that I can remember. I was blown away by the taste. I'm not kidding. I'm not being paid or solicited. It was truly the best burger I've ever had out anywhere, Chicago has some very close because of the "grill." Whoever bought that char-broiler knew it was special. It's definitely school. This visit was one Monday & then Tuesday. I asked my wife to stop & grab me another for dinner. Even warmed up at home, it was incredibly delicious. We will be visiting again and again for that burger. Now, I can not vouch for any other locations. They may not have the same char-broiler, and a regular cheapy commercial char-grill will not achieve the same flavor. I will definitely try to meet the chef in person on my next visit. If you haven't been, I suggest you do! I've been using their products forever & just never went to eat. Sadly, I could have been eating these burgers sooner. Better late than never. Now I want another one just talking about them. Edit; I have visited for dinner service. Absolutely delicious. Well-crafted dishes & great selection. The dinner menu is very good. Best meat in town, possibly. Give it a try. Small dining room, reservations would be necessary in season October 1st-April 1st. Photos are from...
Read moreAfter a few years of hearing about it from my Father-In-Law, we finally got a chance to experience Jimmy P's "in the flesh". Full disclosure...our son runs one of the best butcher shops in the country (Northern Virginia)...and we are unapologetically, proudly steak snobs. We rarely go out, mostly opting to cook or grill at home. Having access to the best meats is lucky...but also makes us probably harder to please on the Steak Front. Our server (named Ren) had been a hostess, and was newer to serving. She turned out to be knowledgeable, fun, and fantastic. My wife ordered the Braised Beef Short Ribs, which arrived on a creamy bed of mashed potatoes. It was so rich and tender...obviously slow-cooked and done with care. It was an exquisite dish. I ordered the 16 oz. Wagyu Beef Ribeye (#7), medium rare, with asparagus. It was served very warm, and with an incredible char/sear. The outside was almost blackened, but not at all tough or "burnt". The inside was a PERFECT medium-rare all the way through, and for the entire body of the steak. As someone who knows their way around a kitchen and a grill, I'll just say that it isn't easy to get that result. It was the best ribeye...indeed the best steak I'd ever eaten. When it was served, I remember thinking that I wouldn't be able to finish it...but I was wrong. Sometimes with ribeye’s, there is a generous portion of fat and other stuff that we don't always eat. This steak was the cleanest cut and the best cook I've ever experienced. YES...it was that good. Paired with a bottle of the Super Tuscan, is was a wonderful and quite memorable meal. At 60 bucks, I challenge anyone to find a better steak AND a better value for Wagyu ANYWHERE. Thanks to Stu and Diane for bringing us there (and for picking up that tab!). Whenever close to Naples, we will certainly go back to...
