July 21, 2025 - As a party of four this time, we shared stuffed grape leaves and zucchini fritters for appetizers. For entrees, the Grilled Vegetables were savory-flavorful; and the Oven-Baked Meatballs, while smaller than anticipated, were nonetheless excellent, filling, and presented bubbling in a cast-iron serving bowl.
The Moussaka was tasteful, but was served and flavored differently than the traditional [Greek] lasagna-like layered casserole. This Turkish version is better described as a stew served in a large shallow bowl. See comparison photos.
Our server, Murat, again provided exceptional service. When it started to rain as we leaving, another Vourla staffer was waiting at the door with an umbrella which he held for the ladies while getting into the car Nice touch. See first review below.
July 7, 2025 An easy review - FIVE stars. This evening was the first time the three of us had been to Vourla, and we'll definitely be back again. For appetizers, we shared Stuffed Grape Leaves, Char-Grilled Octopus, and Zucchini Fitters. All were spot-on. Our entrees were the Hand Chopped Adana Kebab, Grilled Vegetables, and Lamb Chops. Again, all were extremely satisfying, with the savory aromatic tastes characteristic of Turkish flavor profiles. A special thanks to Murat, who graciously helped us decide on our selections and who served the attractive presentations and Chianti. We highly recommend Vourla for delicious...
Read moreEasily one of the worst dining experiences we've had. Restaurant was nearly empty yet food took over an hour while they cranked out a steady stream of takeout orders right in front of us. Service was awful we went long stretches with zero attention while waiting forever for our food. The food was not very good but that was third on the list behind the horrible service and - in 2021 almost 2022 - at the table next to us multiple people were smoking cigars during our dinner. We were seated outside but the smoke was still extremely unpleasant especially with two children at our table not to mention another table next to us on other side with two very young children both under 3. Absolutely awful and surprising. We understand this is supposed to be a "Turkish" restaurant but we are not in Turkey and smoking while people are eating hasn't been a thing in the US for over 30 years. I did find the manager to complain but he pretty much blew me off and seemed to side with the smokers (who sat down at least 20 minutes after we did) . On top of all this when the food finally did come after over an hour, two of the orders were wrong. My son got a steak - which was not good - and we literally had to ask the same server for a steak knife three times before she brought the knife. Oh yeah and the prices are very high....
Read moreVourla Mediterranean Grill and Café makes a very nice first impression, and it just gets better from there. Our dining experience didn’t disappoint; we were greeted at the door and seated immediately after being given our choice of a table inside or out on the patio. Our drink order was taken straight away and appetizer and dinner orders soon followed. We had the Falafel appetizer (ground chickpea and parsley balls deep fried and served with hummus) Outstanding! (I must add a caveat here-I seriously LOVE Turkish food, but I usually feel the need to salt it. I think traditional American fare is more heavily seasoned) For my entree I had the Grilled Vegetables. Absolutely delicious! There was some confusion over what came with them - I wanted bulgar but our waiter didn’t know if it came with salad or if I could substitute, etc. Ultimately, I ended up with salad (it was very good) and had to ask for the bulgar. So, if you’d rather have bulgar or rice instead of salad, be sure and make that clear to your waiter. My daughter and son-in-law (who is Turkish) had the mixed grill plate for 2 and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I highly recommend you give Vourla a chance to make a good impression on you the next time...
