Haluwa Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Nashua

My girlfriend took me out to Haluwa for a special evening and some Chinese food. She’d been there before their flood (around 2019 or so) and the restaurant has just been recently “renovated” and reopened. We thought we’d give them a try.

Upon arrival, we were escorted into a dining room that felt like being brought back to 1976. Painted plywood booths, apparently recently reupholstered, but old well-worn painted walls. The “silverware” was cheap metal, terribly flimsy and thin. The dishes were mismatched old heavy ceramic.

We were given an old-style “plastic sleeve with paper inserts” menu. Trying to make the most of it, we decided to try several dishes, knowing we’d have plenty of leftovers to take home.

We ordered: chicken wings, chicken fingers, chicken lo mien, chicken fried rice, chicken chow mien, and lemon chicken dinner.

The waitress had to come back and ask about the lemon chicken because she said “the kitchen never makes that” (it’s listed 4th on their dinner menu…)

Chicken Fingers – probably the best food we were served – cooked as you’d expect from most Chinese restaurants – tasted good. We had to ask for duck sauce to dip it in.

Chicken Wings – looked good but a bit undercooked – expected somewhat crispy but they were not. Overall, they tasted alright.

Chicken Lo Mien – VERY dark in color – not much taste.

Chicken Fried Rice – VERY dark in color – also not much taste.

Chicken Lo Mien – NOT EVEN CLOSE To what we expected! If you Google pics of chicken lo mien, you’ll see noodles with chicken and veggies. This was just some cabbage with a couple of bamboo shoots and some rubber chicken. Tasteless…

Lemon Chicken – fried chicken with not much sauce – rubbery chicken, very little taste.

Overall, we were very disappointed. Looks and feels like a cheap restaurant surviving on their lounge regulars to keep the doors open. The food is a second thought.

The lady service in the dining room. She said she is an owner. She is racism . I was been there a couple times I don’t know what I did wrong She don’t like service us table. . Maybe because I’m Vietnamese. I’ve been there with my fiancé. Couple times . She service all the people table every second . every minute they order the drink she bring out right away five minutes. She come over to other people table. She ignore my table. My fiancé order a drink we wait 45 minutes Nothing my fiancé had to chase in her after her. he remind her About us drink . . She bring over. I saw one young man come to my table. I would ask him what happened. She serve everybody I know they busy, but I would like it to be fair. To me. This not the first time . Last year I was there she drinking she drunk we asked her a bill we have to leave we pay she don’t even bother . I talk to her. I said she can do that. I think that wonder why she don’t like me.. I am in service many years, I know I know how to be the owner . And she Talk madly to the customer. She except my fiancé come back to her place . But not me . how that gonna happen I love the band of music that’s why I go there. Her food suck. . And listen if my band back there, I will go there again. I don’t care what he think I will for my music . I love that band. I love to be dancing with my man. . I just want to be fair for everybody that I’m looking for treat...

I would like to start with saying Kourtney is ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!! She has a kind heart ♥! She has attention to detail and can read her customers mannerisms. I ordered a drink I really didn't like it I had ordered the same drink but at different establishments. Kourtney came over and asked if everything was okay, I asked if she would not put the " whatever was on top" of the mi ti I ordered. Kourtney, Saif Sure! She brought me one over right away! I tried it again, I didn't like it. It Gabe me isn't heart burn, So I told Kourtney this She even gave me a quick remedy for heart burn! WAYER AND SUGAR AND JUG IT FAST AND IT WORKS!! YOU IT HERE FROM KOURTNEY!! SO, then I re ordered my drink git my usual henney and hip notik! Long story other things happened and she took care of me!! Kourtney has a heart and is an amazing BARTENDER THAT SHOULD BE WORKING IN BE WORKING IN VEGAS!! SHE IS A SHINING...
