I came here for breakfast, today. The first thing I noticed was the host wearing a glove on his right hand, but not on his left hand. Normally, I'm all for restaurant staff wearing gloves, but this guy didn't seem to realize the purpose of gloves. First of all, if you are handling food, while wearing a single glove, the single gloves is pointless. Secondly, he never changed his glove. He did everything with that gloved hand. Now, one may think he was protecting himself, but whatever he held in his gloved hand was regularly swapped to his ungloved hand. Additionally, he did not change gloves before handling food (he's the person packing up to-go bags and bringing the occasional cup of coffee). So, everything the glove is supposed to protect the customer from, is being collected by that nasty glove and passed on to the customer. If this guy is going to handle food, he needs to change his gloves, before doing so. If he isn't handing food, his usage of the glove is pointless, at best, and it highlights his unsanitary practices. Today's host either needs training, or he needs to not work in the food industry.
As I said at the beginning of this review, I came here for breakfast. I ordered the 3x3x3 (French toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon). I waited a good 45 from the time I placed my order, until it was placed in front of me. When scrambled eggs are cold, it's pretty obvious. Their exterior becomes a deeper shade of yellow, and they get crusty. Mine were dark yellow and crusty. My server had to know they were cold, just by looking at them. The frech toast was not even warm enough to soften the butter, much less melt it; and the bacon was just three slices of cold, limp sadness. The server could clearly see the state of my meal. Before she placed the plate in front of me, she should have offered to have it remade. She didn't, and I am not one who send food back to the kitchen (it's a trust thing). So, I ate my cold breakfast.
I am Red Arrow regular, having eaten at all of their diners, but this was my first visit to the Nashua restaurant. I will give this Red Arrow another try, at a later date, and I truly hope they do just a...
Read moreI honestly don’t like writing reviews like this, but I feel like I have to share my experience because this has happened multiple times at Red Arrow Diner. Every time the same lady is working, I feel like she goes out of her way to treat us differently, and it’s hard not to feel like it’s because we’re Indian. She always takes other people’s orders before us, even if they came in after we did. She skips right over us and then finally comes to us last. She also doesn’t give us spoons and knives like everyone else gets when they’re seated — we always have to ask or wait. When it’s time to pay, we’ve been left sitting there for 15–20 minutes, not because the place was busy (it wasn’t), but because she just ignores us. And this isn’t just a one-time mistake it’s happened multiple times, enough for me to notice the pattern. One of the worst moments was when we were walking inside, and she looked at a guy and said something in Spanish. I didn’t understand the words, but then they both looked at me and laughed. I can’t even explain how uncomfortable and humiliating that felt it was like we were the joke. What makes this so frustrating is that when other staff are working, everything is fine. There’s one lady with green hair who is always super nice, treats us with respect, and makes us feel welcome, just like every customer should. She’s the reason I still come sometimes. But if I look through the window and see that the rude lady is taking orders, I honestly just leave and go eat somewhere else. I don’t want to pay money to be disrespected over and over again. I don’t know if she just has a problem with us personally or if it’s something deeper, but either way, it’s not okay. Being skipped, ignored, laughed at, and treated unfairly shouldn’t happen to anyone, especially in a place that’s supposed to serve the public. Red Arrow needs to take this seriously, because this one employee’s behavior is enough to make me not want to come...
Read moreWhile I understand this restaurant is stressfully short-staffed, I was “greeted” by an older man, working the to-go-order cash register, who made a presumptuous and rude statement to me regarding their waiting list before I had a chance to speak with him. Being a party of one and observing several empty seats at the front counter, I had rightly assumed I could sit down upon request, despite the groups of people waiting in the waiting area. When I wanted to ask about this seating arrangement, I was given the cold shoulder and spoken to like I was some impatient shmuck on the street.
I don’t care how many politicians or celebrities have visited their original Manchester location. Anyone with an ounce of self-respect should not eat at Red Arrow, ever.
I wholeheartedly recommend going to Tucker’s in Merrimack or Bedford for breakfast food. Tucker’s far surpasses Red Arrow culinarily and their employees are better treated, anyhow. There’s a good reason why Tucker’s doesn’t have a staffing shortage issue…
UPDATE: To the owner of this business, it's nice to see that you condone this unwarranted behavior directed at customers who are patronizing you in good faith. Typically, it is expected that barstools are available for one-party patrons, and all I wanted to do was ask a very cordial question as to whether I could sit on one and go about my business peacefully. Instead, I received this inexcusable, accusatory and poor customer service from your employees. I am a patient person and could have waited for a seat, but I have too much self-respect to allow anyone to speak to me in such a manner. It is for certain that I will never patronize Red Arrow again. Your busyness does not excuse rudeness. I will continue spreading the good word about Tucker's and giving them my hard-earned...
