Blackwood — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Blackwood Restaurant and Lounge (3/9/25), located inside Hotel Preston off Briley Pike in Nashville, and let me tell you, the experience was amazing! I ordered the Blackwood Garden Salad with shrimp, and it was honestly one of the best salads I've ever had. Now, I know what you're thinking—how exciting can a salad really be? But trust me, Chef Rae worked some magic here. She sautéed the veggies that were added to the salad, which was a unique touch I’d never experienced before, and it made all the difference. The shrimp was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Chef Rae even suggested adding balsamic vinaigrette, which really elevated the whole dish to a whole new level. Whew, just writing this makes me crave it again! 😋

My son also had the Chicken Quesadilla, served with fries, and he couldn't stop raving about it. He loved how tender the chicken was inside the quesadilla, and he appreciated the perfect balance of crispiness. The fries were seasoned just right, too—definitely a side that lived up to the main dish.

A special shout-out to the bartender, Alayah, who was incredibly courteous and welcoming. She made me a Mango Lemonade that was so refreshing and the perfect drink to complement my meal.

The burgers were definitely not that great we ended up getting the impossible burger and the Blackwood cheeseburger. The burgers didn't to us seem fresh, it was very dry and had a taste like you would get a sporting goods event and was burnt. We didnt have time to ask for them to remake it so we ate whats been given to us. The french fries were also not freshly made because you can taste how dried inside was it wasn't moist. There was hardly anybody in that place, and it took us almost 15 to 20 minutes to finally get served and putting in the order. Later, I find out that they have a new chef and he is basically needing to revamp the menu, so that tells me that the items they had wasn't that great. I saw the sky order a Philly cheesesteak and that to me also looked like it was dry. In my opinion I would probably recommend another place if you can go. On the menu it says if you order a burger you get either a side of fries or salad. And the impossible Burger where it says what's in the burger It also says it comes with fries, so I asked our server so if this comes with fries do I get the salad because that will be a side, because it says the fries is already included....

We went on Wednesday for Catffish and Karaoke! It was so much fun! It was all you can eat catfish and fries and unlimited karaoke on Wednesdays. The full menu is also available along with a full bar. The DJ that was handling the karaoke was super friendly and great! He had any song you could think of and even recommended songs if you couldn't choose. He also kicked it off by performing the first song! Me and my group of 7 performed about 8 songs, as it wasn't super packed, but all that wanted to participate was able to. The catfish was great! It was seasoned very well and the waitress continued to check on us to see if we needed anything. Blackwood is definitely a hidden gem! There is free parking, a wonderful vibe, and amazing food and drinks, it doesn't get any better. They also have a few tvs on the wall in case a game or something is going on, which the basketball playoffs were on. You can stop by for a quick drink or bite to eat, or plan a girls or guys night out....the vibe is great for all, kids included! This is my place of choice for all...
