Read moreI decided to try this new Restraunt. I got the birria tacos, cheese dip, and 6 grilled shrimp, with the Piña Agua Fresca. Honestly the food wasn't great but it wasn't bad. The Agua and shrimp were the high light. The water wasn't great but it was better than the food. The birria was a miss for me because of the consume. It looked amazing smelled amazing but it was very bland no flavor. I had to use the salt shaker for the consume. The salsa for the chips was excellent. The cheese dip was regular. I went during early lunch and it wasn't packed. My order was taken in good timing and put in and came out in great timing. After that...... the waiter didn't come back until I was done with my meal. Trying to get another waiter was really hard no one looks at you directly and when they do they run off. Funny enough they werent mean but they just were busy somehwere elese. However it is very pretty inside. If you are willing to wait and are really good at flagging waiters- it's wide open concept. Tables in the middle mostly and booths along the walls. Bathroom has only 2 stalls for the big size restraunt. One very tiny sink. I mean it's nice and gets the job done. I'm a booth type person. It was an Allright experience nothing to rave about but If I'm in a pinch for an early lunch spot and no reservation I'll probably come back to try something else as...
If I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars, I would. My high expectations, after reading a few of the many stellar reviews here that were earned while the restaurant was still in the middle of its soft opening, were more than fulfilled. The renovations of the interior, exterior, and most importantly the menu, were all skillfully completed. ¡Enhorabuena to the team that executed this makeover. The restaurant is beautiful and classy; the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting; and the quality of the food is simply praiseworthy. I ordered off-menu — a plate of barbacoa, pollo asado con pimientos y cebollas, and arroz con sabor — with queso and tomatillo-chipotle salsa on the side. The flavors were sublime, and I could taste real Mexican oregano (not the more common Italian oregano) as well as Mexican cinnamon. Nothing was overly salty, as is too often the case at Nashville eateries. All of the staff were attentive, the service was timely, and the whole experience was high above what I've experienced at all of the other Mexican restaurants I've tried in Nashville. This is certainly a place you could go for a quick, casual meal; but it's also more than suitable for a...
Read moreMas Amigos has taken over the location of the long-time Nashville (and mine) favorite La Hacienda. It has been completely remodeled in a nice, sleek, simple, modern esthetic. The memu has also been upgraded to a more upscale offering. I was joined by my wife, sister, and brother-in-law, and we all enjoyed our food. The margaritas (one mango on the rocks and one jalapeño on the rocks) were both excellent. The birria tacos were delicious and came with a nice spicy green sauce as wel as the standard consomè. The owner stopped by and checked on us, and we complimented him on the spicy green sauce. He told us they also make an even spicier red sauce and got us some. Let me say, if you like spicy Mexican sauces, be sure to ask for the red - it is spicy, but in a delicious, flavorful way (not just for the sake of being hot). To finish the meal we had the plantain dessert- nicely fried and drizzled with condensed milk and powdered sugar - yum! Service was excellent, the food was delicious, and I like the new modern look. Highly recommended, and I'll...
