Ms Kim and I like our Mexican food. We were looking for someplace to get an early dinner in north Nashville and decided to try Reyes on a whim. I'm glad we did. Let's get the gripe out of the way. They were, like many places, understaffed. Service wasn't bad considering. We ordered and got drinks. My fave...the beer was cold and fresh, and a nice sized mug! I had the shrimp with rice and salad. They had a menu item which included the option of octopus with it for an additional fee. I asked for and graciously received it added in with my shrimp. When it arrived, piping hot, I was delighted. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, and the added chunk octopus was tender and tasty. The quantity of shrimp was excellent, and I rarely sipped my beer until I cleaned my plate. The dish was delightfully spicy and well seasoned. Also, the complimentary salsa and chips was excellent. The salsa is freshly made and included fresh cilantro, another delight for the taste buds. Ms Kim had Arroz con Pollo, her fave from any Mexican restaurant, and also left a clean plate. Afterward, we felt like we had discovered a delightful jewel in north Nashville. It is an easy drive from the area north of the river to get there. We plan on returning for dinner in 2 weeks when we return...
Read moreWe received our food and my nachos had a long hair in it. I ordered 3 taco's ala carte for my 7 year old and when I got the check they charged me $20 for three tacos and when I brought it to their attention they tried to tell me they only charged me for three tacos on the menu steak tacos are just $4.99 that still wouldn't be $20 and she received beef tacos which was so by this time I'm a little upset. I talked to a manager which I explained to her about the hair and now the overcharge of the tacos and she says well it may have came from the kitchen and I told her it most definitely did I have no hair. So with that being said I will most definitely not ever return to this place again they overcharged you I think they probably do a lot of people like that because a lot of people don't pay attention to their tickets and they're pretty much dirty as we realized that they had the back door open flies and that's where everywhere I just will will never go back...
Read moreI stopped in for a late lunch, and am so glad I discovered this place. It's very clean, looks newly remodeled, and food is delicious. Also has plenty of parking! I had chicken fajitas nachos. The portion was enough for two people and while I prefer more seasoning, it was good. The peppers and onions were still slightly crisp, which was much appreciated, as most places overcook veggies. The table salsa and chips were excellent. The service was a little slow, but it appeared the server was working solo and several tables came in at same time, so in those circumstances, did really well. She was pleasant, professional, and food and drink refills arrived in good time. One caveat, the music is entirely too loud. Not as obnoxiously loud as another local Mex place, but loud enough that it was irritating. I will definitely return to try...
