Today was the last day going to Star Bagel. The steady decline over the last year is sad for not only Sylvan Park but anyone who appreciates bagels or their money. Everyone knows there is a risk associated with ordering things online, but to strike out so often is tough. Normally, it's the wrong coffee ingredient or incorrect cream cheese. Today, I feel as if I've been robbed. With it being MDW, I was going to splurge on a lox sandwich on my way to the golf course. Little did i know, I had apparently ordered a $10.50 (+ tip) donation to Star Bagel. Halfway to my destination, I decide I'm hungry enough to take down said fishy goodness. The sheer disgust I experienced as I was unwrapping my tasty treat nearly made me veer off the road. My beautiful delicacy was subbed out for the cheapest possible sandwich they could offer (a slimy veggie delight). Being an adult, I am not offended by non animal products, but the rampant neglect shown for regulars recently is actually sad. Not only is this becoming the norm, you're charging what the average American makes per hour for just whatever you want to give them. I'd rather have stopped at the Pilot Truck stop for their...

I've been coming here for half a decade but I really think I'm done at this point. The bagels are good (they used to be better, but they're still some of the better bagels in Nashville) but the service is truly unacceptable. Online orders are regularly wrong, incomplete, or way past the pickup time - if they remember to put the bag up at all. I had already given up on ordering sandwiches from here due to unpredictability, instead only ordering bagels. Today was the last straw for even that. I waited 30 minutes in store, 45 minutes past the "pick-up time" for an employee to simply put a few bagels in a bag. I was told twice they were "working on it." What is there to work on? I just needed someone to put the bagels I paid for into a bag! Meanwhile I could see orders placed after mine being completed before the order I was in store to pick up. Unfortunately, I'm tired of playing roulette every time I place an order here. It's not worth the frustration and the terrible customer service any more when there are plenty of other places in this city to...

Update - January, 1922: Tried to place an order but they told me they arent "allowed" to bring orders out to the car anymore, even if I paid in advance with a card. Seems odd to have discontinued that when we're in the middle of a COVID surge. I had to cancel my order. 😟 Update: I've been back in August and September (2021). Both times, someone DID answer the phone, took my order that way, and brought it to my car. Changing my review from one star to five. No way to order without going inside which, unfortunately, my mobility problems make very difficult. Their app doesn't allow for what I wanted (double topping on each bagel, which would have been more expensive and for which I would have gladly paid extra), and the comments field was too short to add that, and when I tried to place my order by phone, they never answered. I called 4 times in 30 minutes in mid-morning and only got a recording every time telling me to use their app. My order would have been well over $50; I went to...

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience absolutely warranted one. The shop was extremely overcrowded, with a very poor interior layout, customers were packed together shoulder to shoulder waiting for orders, creating an uncomfortable environment from the start. It took over 20 minutes just to receive two bagels. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was even more disappointing than the wait. I ordered the Denver bagel and my husband ordered a standard breakfast bagel, we consider ourselves true bagel enthusiasts, and I can honestly say these were among the most flavorless, plain, and unenjoyable bagels we’ve ever had. To make matters worse, there was a hair in my Denver bagel, which is completely unacceptable for any food establishment. Nashville has much better options, Ugly Bagel and Jersey Oven remain superior in both flavor and quality. This shop has potential given how busy it was, but the poor execution, lack of attention to cleanliness, and the disappointing food are serious issues and need to be addressed immediately.

FINALLY I found a real bagel place in Nashville! It's absolutely crazy to me that Star Bagel doesn't have more locations. This is the first place I've found that has real bagels. I cannot recommend the challah bagel enough. If you're a fan of a good egg bagel, this is a tremendous substitute. Soft, a little sweet and delicious. I had one of their breakfast sandwiches. The service was wonderful from start to finish. The staff were crazy nice and super knowledgeable. The sandwich (challah bagel, egg whites, cheese and turkey sausage) was perfect! The bagel was crispy and chewy, the perfect bagel combination. The turkey sausage was spicy and not greasy. The egg whites were cooked perfectly. What a great spot. I highly recommend starting your day here. I can't wait to go back for lunch sometime. Please open a location in Hendersonville!
