Went to lunch today with my wife after she sent me a list of new places to try. Like the "great" husband I am, I only looked at the pictures and picked one at random. This happened to be my random pick and I'm very happy it was. We came in around lunchtime on a Monday, so it wasn't busy at all. My wife and I sat down on the patio, where a nice man sat across from us. I was really hoping for a burger, since that's all my wife usually sends me, but was a little disappointed to only see sliders and no burger. I wound up ordering the wings, 6 Nashville hot & 6 Buffalo. The Nashville hot has a really nice sweetness before unloading Satan's wrath onto your tongue. As someone with stomach issues, I understood that I probably shouldn't be THAT adventurous. I set them to the side and started in on the Buffalo. The spice from the Nashville hot was still around so I decided to wait until it cleared before making an official judgment of the Buffalo wings. As I was waiting, the man from across the patio came up to check on us, as he noticed that I wasn't eating. He asked if the wings were working out for me and I replied honestly. Not only did he understand, but he recommended the "Memphis" style dry rub to substitute. I took him up on his offer and I'm so glad I did. Not only did he get me new wings, but he gave me a double order!! By the time the new Memphis wings hit my table, the spice had worn off and I was able to make a fair assessment. The wings are the go to here, by far. I'm not usually a "wing guy" and it's been years since I've had a bone-in wing (I know I'm just eating Buffalo nuggets but I still like them). But the skin was perfectly crispy and the chicken inside, so nice and juicy. It's hard to have that kind of balance but it was mastered in their kitchen. The Memphis style was nice and slightly sweet at first but a nice smoky peppery kick at the end. The same man later came up and offered me their "Carolina" gold sauce. After short conversation, we found out that he was the owner! He made my opinion do a 180 flip faster than I've ever done. I was on the brink of letting this place fall into the category of, good but probably won't be back; but the owner has ensured my patronage for years to come. His super nice attitude and passion to satisfy the customer is refreshing in a big town like Nashville. He could've easily stayed focused on his computer in the corner, but his selflessness overpowered his computer work. Because of this, you bet your a** I'll be telling every wing lover and bar go-er I know to go to streetcar. To the owner, if you're reading this; thank you for making my day with my wife so much better and I can't wait to see you again next...
Read moreI’ve now tried Streetcar Taps & Garden twice for lunch and twice for dinner and have had a great experience all four times! The staff is friendly and genuinely happy you are there. And the environment is great for families or just a group of friends having a drink. Inside there’s high tops, tables and bar seating. Very clean. The outside seating, well, I’ve not been there, but the other reviews say it’s nice!
But the food!!! This is not your typical pub food. This chef is for real putting so much thought and effort into their menu. My recommendations? 1) if the special sounds good to you, try it! I’ve had the lunch special once and the dinner special once and was blown away by the combination of flavors flavor. They make it more than just a sandwich or quesadilla!! 2) if it has the word “brisket” in the ingredients, try it!!! 3) If it has their jalapeño sauce on it, try it. It’s sooo good!!!
They also have a great selection of beer on tap, wines and some creative cocktails.
I always leave full, but never with that bloated feeling you can get at other places.
I plan on...
Read moreI don't know what went wrong with our table specifically but that was the worst dining experience I've ever had. We arrived at our reservation time and table wasn't ready which was fine since we were waiting on another couple. Once we got sat no one waited on us. We had beers from the bar that we brought to our table once it was ready but after that we sat for 40 minutes with empty drinks and no water while everyone around us got waited on. I finally went inside and asked to be served and they came to our table twice the whole time we were there. We even had to go inside yet again to ask for our check after we sat with empty drinks for another 30 minutes. We were there for almost 4 hours and had 3 beers in total. Food was also mediocre at best with their crostini crumbling everytime we attempted to pick it up and the sandwiches cold. We wanted to try this place but seems it will be a one and...
