I've been coming to this spot consistently for a handful of years now and rightfully so. The staff are amazing, the food is terrific and consistent and the atmosphere is always enough but never too much. Recently I had the distinct pleasure of showing up on a rare night where Chef K was working and, let me tell you, you will not be disappointed. While there menu is usually pretty straightforward, I had a special sandwich prepared by Chef K on this particular evening.
I've often wondered what a sandwich would taste like if prepared, collectively, by the best culinary minds to ever grace this earth and I think I found out. The dish, on paper, seemed so simple but the execution was perfection. The bread, almost cracker like in consistency, was seasoned with the perfect amount of (what I'm assuming) was some type of aged rosemary or thyme. Almost like what the worlds best focaccia hopes to grow up to be one day. Next, the sliced turkey. Sliced thin enough to read a book through it but stacked high and thick. Like two "c's" thick. Like thicker than your mother in law after Thanksgiving dinner thick. Lastly, the cheese. Some might call it cheddar. Some might call it pepper jack. I would call it a pasteurized delicacy that came straight from the udder of a cow blessed by the Pope that's lived a life more privileged than Bill Gates.
Chef K makes very rare appearances so don't hold your breath on getting graced by their presence but if you put in the time and effort, you might strike...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTwilight Tavern is a solid spot with a great sports bar feel, cool lighting making for good vibes inside and out, with a comfortable patio too. I think the South Beach sandwich was a standout like a Cuban but amped up with some extra meat and a citrus peppery sauce. I would recommend ordering some extra sauce with it. Tots fries onion rings or sweet potato fries all good side options. The fresh tomato and mozzarella salad was delicious and made us really happy to see that on a menu in a sports bar. Oh and cobbler was perfectly done. Loved the crust. Staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome we'd definitely come back and hang out longer next time. Thereās a decent amount of free parking, and the location right off Charlotte Avenue makes it easy to get to. Definitely worth a visit if you're...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place was ok. The food was good- hot and fresh, very tasty. We got the Korean wings and okra. The service was mid at best. At first I felt sorry for the bartender because I thought she was new, but when I asked her, she said she had been bartending for 22 years. This was shocking to me- she was not very knowledgeable, nor very friendly. We sat at the bar, where you normally get better service from the bartender, and she could barely be bothered with us. We came in after a difficult morning and wanted to have a drink and relax over lunch in a good bar with a cool bartender. This was not the place for that, unfortunately. Maybe she was having a bad day, so we did tip her fairly, but she was very unfriendly and walked away from us twice while we were making up our minds. We...
