Denny's Restaurant — Restaurant in National City

It was horrible... Patty, and the heavy set blond lady have been very racist to me... I've eaten at this place a dozen times.. I order 2 pancakes, which always comes to $3.80.. each time it got worse... They made sure I was uncomfortable... I'm a very spiritual person... They transmitted these vibrations through there Aura each time.. so this how it went.. I have serveer mental health problems... Patty wouldn't ask me to be seated.. and they would automatically bring me the pancakes in a to go bag... With 2 small packets of syrup... And two jellys.. I would take the bag to the first table, sit down and put syrup for the bottle, cuz I love alota syrup... Each time I did this, it made them upset, cuz they don't want a strong black man with jewelry in there prestigious establishment... But I held my concerns in... Why.. cuz if I complained... They would say... You,re being threatening sir, please leave, so I avoided that at that time, knowing the outcome... Till I started throwing up the last two times I ate there.. I knew they were playing with my food...so tonight I go, same vibe, same play... My pancakes come 20 minutes later, as usual.....This time I find hair in my food... I go to the counter to complain... They acting surprised about the hair .. saying it was an accident... But none of the other customers had this accident. I made an announcement and asked... I told them how a felt about there service, and asked for the manager name.. which I was denied, and asked to leave...they gave me two pancakes.. nothing extra for the accident, like most establishments do... 2 pancakes in a bag. And asked to leave, cuz I was threatening 🤣🤣 I want the camera looked at in the kitchen by the owner... There contaminating food. I'm reporting this to the BBB... I want a full investigation on...

It's Apr 2024. 3 yrs since my last review and visit; Nothing has changed. Maybe a little better on the service, and it was a little busier. So some improvement has been made. But still not up to the standard I'm used to while traveling.

Original review from me 3 years ago; I give 2 stars instead of one only because the server started out good, and the food showed up fast and right.

I never did like this dennys location. Common issues were always bad service, bad food prep and lack of ambience. Today was only slightly different. I was seated and it took close to 15 minutes to get a server to stop by. I almost left. Then the server who showed up looked like an off duty server who was helping out. Again...I let it go. She was personable and just a bit chatty. I am chatty too, so I liked that. Food showed up fast. Eggs were right and the server was professional. There.. that covers 5 stars. Now the deductions down to 2 stars.

As soon as she completed my order she went on break. No problem, other servers will watch for me. Yeah, right.

I finished my coffee, put the cup on the edge of table for a refill. This is a common signal for a refill. I've travelled around the country and overseas...this really is a signal. Servers walked past my table a half dozen times and ignored it. I had to ask a busser to refill my coffee. No one came through to check on me. Maybe I wanted a slice of purple or something.

I dont know why this location is so bad. I can go to the one in mission valley or la mesa and have good service. But here... I can bet money that it will be bad. I dont get it.

As for the stellar reviews ... I just listened to a report on NPR about a website where you can trade or buy positive reviews for you business. I guess dennys invests in...

Plain and simple, Denny's is good. I appreciate a reliable meal. I always have leftovers that I can indulge in at a later time. Denny's is good for families because of the prices and you are not limited to one cuisine. I've corralled at Denny's for a business lunch, after hours dancing, just because, dinner, balling on a budget.

I'm impressed how the menu keeps reinventing itself while including traditional diner food like the patty melt. On this visit, I tried the American Patty Melt. I ordered swiss cheese and added sauteed mushrooms. The burger was pre-seasoned, the buttered bread was grilled to a slight crisp with flavorful caramelized onions and mushrooms. Oh mios dios. Not even exaggerating! And if you love coke---cola that is, this Denny's has the right carbon mixture for addiction.

Dianna was a server sent from the Gods of Customer Service clouds. I've eaten at Denny's throughout San Diego and across the states, and this location shines with service, quality of food, quick turnaround, and customer care. I especially appreciated how the employees gently handle the panhandlers and those that are economically challenged.
