Los Cabos Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Navasota

May 27, 2022. Went to Los Cabos here in Navasota for lunch with my wife, son in law and one grandson. The staff is very nice. Our server was Aurora who was excellent and stayed on top of us and any needs or questions we had. Complimentary salsa and Queso is provided with refills as are chips. Both salsa and Queso were excellent. The salsa had a little kick but not enough to keep anyone from not trying it. Queso was also very good. We ordered A ribeye steak, Shrimp Brochette, Carnitas, and Chile Pablano Rellenos. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and our grandson cleaned his plate. The Carnitas were what my son in law had and he loved them although they were not as lean as he would have liked them. My wife had the Chile Pablano Rellenos and said it is as close to what her mother made as you can get. There are also sides of rice, beans, others depending on what you order. I had the shrimp brochette and loved them. My only complaint is the size of the shrimp are not jumbo size like the menu says, they appeared be be more of a medium size shrimp. I substituted mixed veggies for the rice which were very good, and the charro beans were also excellent. The guacamole is also excellent !!!!!!!! They also have FREE frozen yogurt cones for any patron. Its a help yourself type thing but it is free and the kids love it for sure !!!!!!! All in all, everyone loved what they had and we will definitely be back. I also posted the menu and pics of our dishes. If I could give them no stars, I would. I stopped last Sunday evening at 6:15--the restaurant wasn't very busy. The waiter ignored me for at least 10 minutes, even though I saw him look right at me; all I had was chips & salsa with no drink order taken. The bus boy finally asked what I wanted to drink & then a few minutes later Gabriel, my waiter, showed up. When I told him I'd given my drink order to the young man who asked, Gabriel very rudely informed me that was the busboy, not a waiter. Finally gave my order after 15 minutes had passed. Food was so-so, though overpriced for a flauta plate & iced tea. Gabriel was very short with me, never checking to see if I needed anything else. When I was done there was no sign of Gabriel, & finally Alondra Z came up to ask if I needed something as I kept looking towards the front. Told her I wanted to check out. She took my card up front, came back after a few minutes, I left only $1 for Gabriel's tip, & left. When Alondra asked how my meal was I told her I would never come back. Yesterday, I noticed several charges to that credit card that I did not make, starting at 3 a.m. Mon morning when a charge was made & immediately reversed, then 4 other charges that showed on my credit card which have been contested. The only unknown place I'd been was this restaurant, & I had only used it twice since at reliable places. I fully believe that my credit card info was copied and used by someone at this restaurant. I stopped by this place while traveling from a local track meet. Tried the ordering online, which didn't allow many modifcations, so I went in to the restaurant and asked if I could place an order to go. Not sure who it was that helped me, but he was very pleasant, jumped right on it and was eager to take care of me! I saw some amazing food options online, but I have some dietary restrictions and needed to customize a bit. The host was amazing and helped me substitute options that would work for me. He said it would be about 10 to 15 minutes and he would have it right out! So I waited and noticed they also have a complementary ice cream machine in the lobby, which was fun, so I enjoyed one while I was waiting! In just a few minutes, my order (for two) came out in two HUGE bags, full of more food than an army could eat, including chips and salsas on the side! My favorite was the creamy green salsa which I have not had in years I used to get at a favorite restaurant in Dallas, so that was a treat! The service was amazing, the food was some of the best authentic Mexican food I have ever had! My husband and I took the food back to our hotel, and I just kept taking the food out of the bags, the portions were VERY generous. I could not say enough about this little gem of a restaurant as we were traveling through Navasota, Texas. Wish I had left a bigger tip!
