Last week, I took my niece and her son out for dinner at Pizza Joe’s. I haven’t been there myself in quite a while. The last time I was there, in 2023, I saw something that I did not like. I was seated at a table, facing the service area, where the soda machine is. It was a slow Wednesday night and the servers were busy folding pizza boxes, in their down time. Instead of placing the pizza boxes on the service area counter, I watched in shock to see that they stood the boxes on the floor before folding them. The part that was folded inside the box, the part that the pizza would touch, was the part that was on the floor. This really turned me off, therefore I have never gone back. But my niece and her son picked this place, so I agreed to go.
As always, the food and the service were excellent. But once we got our dinner check, I was very, very confused by it. After the subtotal amount, they had a “supplemental fee,” then they had “other taxes,” then they had “total taxes” and finally the grand total. I asked the cashier what the supplemental fee was and she told me it was an additional charge if I was using a credit card to pay. She really could not explain what the “other taxes” was.
They did not know whether I would be paying by credit card or by cash but the credit card fee was already added into the total amount. I did pay by credit card, so I guess I was just stuck paying that 4% fee, which I was not at all happy about. After all, accepting credit cards is their cost of doing business and a 4% fee should never be passed on to their customers.
When I got home and sat down with my calculator, I found that “other taxes” was the correct tax amount and “total taxes” was the “other tax” amount plus the “supplemental fee.” However, they did not “double add” those amounts to the grand total.
This was one of the most confusing dinner checks that I have ever seen. So, between that and the prior incident, of the servers folding pizza boxes from the floor, I will not be returning to this place.
My go-to Italian restaurant is Bella Napoli, which is only a few blocks away. Both the food and the service are excellent there too. Plus, they do NOT charge me extra for using my credit card and they give me a 15% Senior Citizen Discount, off of my...
Read moreThis place absolutely sucks now. I hate whenever we order from here. It takes way too long to cook a pizza. They really took advantage of inflation by charging you for every single thing. I’m surprised they didn’t charge me a standing fee for waiting 10 more minutes when they originally told me pick up in 20. They seemed to be more efficient when they were busier, business probably dwindled because it seems as though nobody cares. I also hate ordering from here because it never fails to give me violent stomach cramps after eating. It’s more convenient to get a toaster oven pizza than spending $50 here. This place absolutely sucks now. I hate whenever we order from here. It takes way too long to cook a pizza. I had to edit this as I was baffled that it took 40 minutes to cook a medium Sicilian and wrote my review while standing around in the hallway. The said Sicilian is not cooked, or at least not hot so I’m unsure what was taking so long. This used to be my favorite pizza and I would go to war for it. Now it seems more efficient to walk to Rome, order the pizza, and take it back here to Nazareth, Pennsylvania when I get back the pizza will still be fresher than what I just had.
What a cocky response. Maybe instead of hawking Google you go take care of your restaurant, I reheated the pizza in the toaster oven to finish cooking it. 40 minutes and the stupid thing wasn’t even cooked and you’re fighting with...
Read moreThis is a the first time eating at this place, the appetizers were good, nice light breading and the sauce was light. Now, don’t let the size options fool you. Both the Calzone and the Stuffed Cheeseburger Pizza that we order was a small size. It was huge looking! My Mother who order the calzone was shocked by the size of the calzone which is indeed a small, she did like the calzone tho, very tasty and filling. The Stuffed Pizza was also a small but wow it looked like a full circular version of the calzone my mother ordered. The filling was nice and cheesy almost creamy too, there’s bacon and ground beef in it which you can taste with all the different cheeses. They prices was very reasonable for what you’re getting and you’re going to be a happy camper...
