Beans and Freshes...I think that's how it translates into English. I have been driving past this place several times this past year and I finally decided to check it out. I went in expecting an average taco joint but there was a positive vibe when I walked into their restaurant.
I went straight to my go tacos of carne asada and al pastor. I always thought if any place can't make a proper tasting asada taco you are not respecting the craft. My first bite I noticed the taste of the carne asada was satisfying but the dryness of the overall taco was holding it down. I tossed some green salsa on the taco which along with the red salsa are in bottles and ready to use at your table. Both the salsas had just below medium heat but were surprisingly good.
Now I chowed down on my al pastor taco and again the meat was not bad but there was a certain dryness to it with its double tortilla. At first I thought the double tortillas tasted good but after a few more bites I had a bit of trouble swallowing the dryness of it all. Also I don't understand the concept of one taco having more meat than the other one haha! I washed it down with a fountain drink which yes they do have a soda machine to drink whatever your heart desires. Except the fresh waters like watermelon or horchatas cost extra. Aguas frescas that is probably where they get part of the restaurant name.
So overall it's good but definitely not the best out there but it filled me up good. It has some potential to move up the scale with just a few minor adjustments here and there. I will try it again sometime in the near future and order other items on the...
Read moreThis is my favorite taco place. The regular /large tacos have melted cheese, and that's just everything. The meat always has flavor, never bland. Their salsas are delicious. The large tacos come with guac too. They're just the best. I don't like the flour tortilla they use for the burritos, though. It gets gummy. They should source another flour tortilla. The carne asada is excellent. The shrimp tacos are spicy and delicious. My mouth is watering, just thinking about it. The only reason I don't come here more often is because I try to limit my intake of GMO corn. Maybe one day a local taco place will figure that out and offer us non GMO corn tortillas. Until then... Frijoles y Frescas. Edit: I avoid them now, because I had bland meat two times. The fish and the shrimp ones always have flavor. Then the last time I got the shrimp, something happened that it wasn't as good as usual too. I said, that's it, no more. Not for a while. Mostly because I don't need to eat the gmo corn that often anyhow. So, yeah, now I'm all lonley, without a favorite taco place. I'm holding out until we get with the non GMO here. Unless late night, because it's the only option or because somebody's mama insists. Edit: A year later now, I came back. The meat was back to its flavorful former glory! Honestly, my favorite asada tacos. I love the melted cheese that come on the big tacos, as well as their guac and salsas. (If you don't like cheesy tacos, order the minis). I will leave it as minus one star, just due to the inconsistencies, but it really...

They've fixed the issues! I skipped going there for about 4 months and recently decided to give them another chance. The food was back to being delicious and the service was awesome. I went there again a few nights ago in the drive thru and it was great again. Hooray!
Four months prior:
Up until recently, this was my favorite taco place. About the time they upped their prices (maybe 2 or 3 months ago) the quality of food and service dropped. The staff don't say "hi, bye" or "thank you" and act like you're just an annoyance to them. Even though I always tip, which people don't usually do at drive thrus. I go there often because they're right by my house, and today was the third time they've given me the wrong meat. My food was cold, corn was mushy and they didn't put a stick in it or use any toppings besides tajin. She sort of threw a wet bag at me out the window. If I'm gonna pay $13 for 1 taco, 1 corn and an agua fresca, the least they can do is get my order right. I was in food service for years, I'm reluctant to complain and not trying to be a Karen, but it's obviously not just a few bad days at this point. I hope they up their...
