Went in on a Sunday night and it was my lucky day because the special was "Fried chicken Dinner" The price for this amazing dinner was $8.99!!! With this delicious fried chicken dinner you get delicious coleslaw, mashed potatoes and gravy and a fresh roll! God knows I love fried chicken! When my meal arrived it was basically a half of chicken a chicken breast, thigh, drumstick etc.. Look I couldn't eat all this I had to ask for a to-go box very generous portions all around. I was told by a waiter they serve up to 300 fried chicken dinners every Sunday!! He told me it was the most popular special of the week and it is stayed on the menu while other specials have come and gone, that's how popular it is! If you like fried chicken go there and get this dinner you will not be disappointed great service as well! I sat at the counter not wanting to wait for a table and an elderly gentleman sat next to me, he had a very kind spirit and we chatted a little bit while waiting for our meals he also ordered the fried chicken dinner. I felt compelled when I was leaving to buy his dinner for him, I didn't tell him I just asked the waitress for his ticket and I left, I then proceeded to go out to the casino and play the penny slot machines After a few spins I won $600! Call it what you want luck etc..but I call it reaping what you sow. I believe my act of kindness had something to do with me winning, this is also known as "Karma" this is what the world needs much much more kindness and compassion a little kindness and compassion goes a long ways. I will return to Katie's Country kitchen and I will again order the Fried...
Read moreFood quality has gone DOWN AND NEED NEW COOKS TO IMPROVE. COVID has hurt Katie's. I ate at several places last week and it appears that every place needs to train their employees and hire more people. Supply issues and need to review what is needed. Reno and Lake Tahoe are not doing well, prices and resort fees are going up. Nevada is not on my list to visit anymore. I like to drive and now I fly more and rent a car, because i can save time and money. We need to see value when we pay. I see my income reduced and cost of living going up. Even camping is going up and trying to reserve is harder. I have been coming to Carson Valley area since the 1960's and now I have to think about were to go and when. It is harder to plan. Sierra's had a bad winter and many places are not open and/or reduce hours. Employees to live were they work. CVI needs to attract customers. Lake Tahoe is off my list because of crowds and money. Reno, Carson City, and Carson Valley and planning to to meet people some were is getting harder. Eating out and staying some were is not easy. I even BBQ HOT DOGS AND MEET FAMILY. PIZZA AND Mc Donald's are having supply issues and need staffing. Many people in California are moving because many issues any are not coming back. Rethink what is needed to keep customers! I adjust my travel and were I eat. I bring more food with me when i travel and make...
Read moreKatie's Country Kitchen at the Carson Valley Inn is a dining gem that truly has something for everyone. As a part of its history, I am honored to have played a role in enhancing this already well-known favorite by managing and help create the dessert bar and it's menu in 2004.
This restaurant stands out as a versatile destination, offering a diverse menu to cater to a wide range of tastes. From hearty breakfast options to savory lunches and delectable dinners, Katie's has it all. The addition of the dessert bar was like the final puzzle piece, elevating the overall dining experience and adding an extra layer of excitement to an already beloved establishment.
The best part is that whether you're a local looking for a comforting meal or a visitor seeking a taste of local flavors, Katie's welcomes you with open arms. The inclusive atmosphere, quality service, and a menu that has something to satisfy every palate make it a go-to spot in the Carson Valley.
I feel privileged to have been a part of the successful history of Katie's Country Kitchen, even if briefly. This place embodies the spirit of community and good food, and I'm delighted to have contributed to its continued success. If you're looking for a well-rounded dining experience that caters to all tastes, Katie's is the...
