I rarely ever give below three stars. I think if a business gives half an effort they should meet average unless they just don't try.

I'm not sure where to start. I will take some of the blame not knowing what I was getting into as it was my first experience with fondue. I guess in translation fondue means do it yourself.

Nothing in their website, menu, or staff explained that other than soup and bread, there was nothing cooked by the restaurant. When we arrived we were seated and given bread and butter. Ordered a red wine and a cheese fondue. Wine came way too warm and the fondue too cold. OK, we worked through those issues and ordered. No one explained the process so here's what we got. Three plates of uncooked proteins with a bunch of dipping sauces which mostly tasted all like. They then brought out the pots to cook the food in and we had to wait for the oil and broth to heat up. I assume, never explained the process to us, so its our ignorance I guess, but you put all the different proteins in the pots and wait for it to cook, then fish them out with a single skewer and dip the pieces in the sauce.

They waited too long to heat up the oils, broth, and cheese. I imagine cooking, chicken, seafood, steak, and meatballs, all in the the same pot at the same time would make for some interesting tastes but after each of us had a few raw bites of food we were done.

Our server was completely clueless and didn't seem to care to offer help or suggestions. Paid the $250 bill for four people and had to find a restaurant that actually cooks food. It's a bit of a gimmick type of restaurant and way over priced for them giving you plain proteins to cook for yourself without any directions on how to do so.

Would have given them a three star if they would clearly let you know what you are getting into as the restaurant was fairly clean and the staff was...

Less then impressive. The restaurant looks good in the photos and my wife and I had reservations but when we got there the place was completely empty. Later two other couples showed up and they stacked them right next to us. The background music selection was a mix of motown 50-60s with an accidental 90s tune thrown in every once in a while just to confuse you. The service was nothing special which is strange considering how few people were in the restaurant. We ordered the fondue for two. Paying to cook your own food is already a little strange but then sitting there with our smartphones running timers also seemed a little much. They do claim to have a full bar but when I took a drink of the whiskey sour I ordered I decided it was best to switch to wine. There was far too little food, the pots were too small to have multiple people dipping items in and for that matter trying to take items out without deforking other things still cooking. In the end we went back to the hotel and I ordered room service. If you have ever been to The Melting Pot chain this restaurant is not even close especially considering the price...

La Fondue - A Delightful and Fun Family Experience

La Fondue in Lake Tahoe is an excellent choice for a memorable dining experience, especially if you’re looking for something fun and interactive for the whole family.

The staff were absolutely fantastic—attentive, friendly, and eager to ensure we had a great time. They took the time to explain the menu and how to navigate the fondue process, making it enjoyable even for those new to this style of dining.

The food itself was very good. From the flavorful cheese fondue starters to the main course with a variety of meats and dipping sauces, everything was fresh and well-prepared. The interactive element of cooking your food at the table added an extra layer of excitement and involvement for everyone, especially the kids.

The cozy and inviting atmosphere of La Fondue makes it a perfect spot for families or even a romantic night out. If you’re in Lake Tahoe and looking for a unique dining experience, this place is well worth a visit. We’ll definitely be...

Came here to celebrate our anniversary. Cute small place and low-key. Service was friendly and I made a reservation through their website. Knew we wanted the dinner for 2 so started with the soup and cheese fondue - it was ok with the bread and apple, grapes. Nothing unique beside the small cheese heart, but we ran out of cheese before finishing all the bread. For the main, we opted to do the oil instead of the broth. Glad we did it since the optional battering of veggies or meat tasted well with the dipping sauces. It may not look like much on the platter but it gets filling. Finally we had the chocolate dessert - also not outstanding as compared to places we’ve been to in the past (Melting Pot or Simply Fondue). It was fruit, mini marshmallows and a cinnamon crumb cake. Would have appreciated brownie bites or pound cake but by the end of it, we enjoyed our chocolate. The champagne also was a nice touch so all in all, for the value, we enjoyed our celebration dinner.

Ordered the grand Fondue experience for two. The tomato soup was great and so was the Alpine cheese Fondue. There was a main course with a choice of either oil or broth to cook the veggies and proteins along with various sauces to dip them in. Overall, it was okay, it got a bit tiresome needing to set timers for how long to cook the meat. I'd probably prefer a KBBQ spot instead of the main course. The dessert was a chocolate Fondue with bread and assortment of fruits. I personally thought that the chocolate was a bit too bitter for my tastes, but if you're a fan of dark chocolate you would definitely enjoy it. Overall, the place was decent and the staff was extremely friendly.
