We chose Dough House to host our wedding celebration/event & overall it was a very pleasant experience from start to finish. If you are looking for a venue to host a small celebration, or a large one of you're willing to rent out the whole restaurant, Dough House is a great choice. I wanted a small wedding with only close family and friends & their garden area was perfect for it. I liked the high ceiling, the large fountain in the middle of the room and all the greenery. The room is already beautiful in my opinion so i just made my centerpieces and brought a bit of my own decor to decorate the space and add my own little personal touch. I really appreciate that they let me do this. They let me come in the afternoon before and decorate the space and closed off the area until my wedding the following night. No other restaurant would have let me do this, bring all my wedding decor let alone reserve the space for a day and a half. We got to play whatever music we wanted off their speakers and they allowed us to hire a mariachi. We got a package deal for the room that included appetizers, 3 course meal, dessert & an open bar all night. It was more than worth the price. The food was great, the service was great, the head server helped us decorate (thats not in his job description but he did it anyways) even folded the napkins into little tuxedos. The night of our wedding they worked their butts off to make my wedding run smoothly & I really appreciate it. They cut and served my wedding cake, put out my chocolate favors, lit my 30+ electric candles, all the little things another restaurant wouldn't have done. They didn't rush us out, tell us to be quiet, they were so cool about everything. They let us come for our decor the next day and didn't rush us, told us as long as we came before they closed they'd close off the garden area until we came. Thats really cool, because any other restaurant would have told us to get all our junk out that night or they'd throw it away and charge us a fee. I've heard a lot of horror stories of venues slamming you with hidden fees at the end or charging you for ridiculous things, finding any re3ason to keep your deposit, so I was kinda expecting it, but Dough House surprised me. No such thing happened and they refunded our deposit without being asked. They delivered everything they promised and thats what matters. All we heard the entire time planning with them was yes, sure of course, etc. I was just waiting for something to go wrong but it...
Read moreVery beautiful atmosphere. Hostesses were very nice and gave everyone a single rose. However, terrible, terrible service. We had our reservation for 8:30 and did not get seated until 9:15. A lot of people had reservations that got lost in the system causing mix up and frustration, some were asked to leave and some were accommodated. The restaurant had clearly overbooked. Only one waiter available in the back room, he was clearly overworked and frustrated. We told the waiter we needed to be out of there by 10:30 because we had other plans. He took all our orders. We sat and waited another half an hour with no food drink or water. Not to mention the people around us were also waiting a while for their orders. At the table right next to us the guy had his steak come back charcoal black when he asked for medium rare, and the woman could not even eat her pasta which looked unappetizing. Another waiter came around and tried to give us an order that wasn’t ours, and looked very puzzled when we told her that it wasn’t ours. Our waiter finally came around and we asked him about the mix up and hold up and he told us our order was lost. The waiter himself said that the service is terrible and we should probably leave. So I asked for a refund of the $75 dollar deposit ($25 per person) which I paid with card, but they gave me back in cash. The hostess was apologetic and offered us free dessert, a valentines cake which was nice and tasted alright. Overall very disorganized and a terrible Valentine’s Day experience!!
UPDATE TO OWNER’S RESPONSE:
Clearly you don’t remember us and you obviously didn’t read through my review. My confirmation was confirmed! You guys called me and took my $75 dollars over the phone. Which I have proof of in my bank statement. You have me confused with another guest. When I arrived you never told us you couldn’t accommodate us. You immediately said wait we’ll have your table ready. Which we did … Again you are getting me confused with other guests that I witnessed this happening too. I never complained about the rose. Me saying you gave everybody a single rose was a compliment.
Your response to me is completely false, which I can understand because there were so many people upset with your service that night. I can see how you would get me confused with another guest. Which you...
Read moreWe received a friendly greeting when we came in. It's obviously been recently remodeled.
I would have given the waiter five stars, because he was great, but I think that they were shorthanded tonight and need an assistant.
Perhaps the owners will hire an assistant to help him.
There was also a piano player, and I will get to that shortly. But the food.
When you order the Caesar salad, be sure to tell them to put anchovies on it. If there are not fresh anchovies on your Caesar salad, rather than anchovy paste, it's just not Caesar salad.
We should not allow people to call something Caesar salad unless it has anchovies.
For entrees , we ordered the sole piccata, and the chicken marsala
The chicken marcella was very delicious and had a few sun-dried tomatoes mixed in with the mushrooms . A kind of a tuscan twist. It tasted very nice.
The sole piccata was also really good.
Both dishes had whipped potatoes, which we're very flavorful. Though truth be told, they were almost whipped too much. Almost, but very nice and flavorful.
The asparagus was cooked Perfectly and properly charred lightly.
For an appetizer, we had meatballs.
Let me say, the meatballs were flavorful, and not overly dense, but not falling apart either. The only slight disappointment with them, was the description said it came with pomodora sauce, but there was so very little of it.
Additionally, Joe was complementary bread. It was garlicky cheese bread, and was okay.
For wine, we had the house Chianti, and it was very passable. While the Bordeaux by the glass, was obviously young and needed to breathe more at the very least.
I will update on the dessert if we decide to have some. 🙂
Due to our own fullness, we decided to not have dessert. Although we understand it...
