This is my first visit to Pollo Campero, after seeing the TV adds that says that they are giving away a 3 piece meal free, if you download the app.
I did that and it gave me a virtual coupon for the meal.
I then drove to the drive thru and ordered the meal and explained that I had a coupon for the free meal. She asked if it was for a buy one get one free. I said no, it was for just one free meal, with a drink purchase. She then asked me what sides I wanted and to drive to the window.
When I got to the window, she asked to see me coupon. It seems like she knew nothing about the coupon, because she had to read the terms on my phone. She then apparently rang it up wrong and I had to wait while she took another order from somebody else in the drive thru and then rang mine up again. She again had to ask me what sides I wanted. Basically I had to go through the whole process again.
Finally, I received my food.
You get a choice of grilled or fried chicken. I ordered the fried chicken. You get a choice between legs and thighs, or a wing, thigh and a breast (for $1 more). It was cooked properly, moist and tender. It is marinaded with a pleasant slight citrus flavor.
The sides I ordered were cole slaw and corn tortillas.
Both were disappointing.
The cole slaw had way too much mayonnaise and was not balanced with an acid, such as vinegar or cider. For me, it just didn't "pop" and just tasted like cabbage and mayonnaise.
The tortillas come flat, in a baggie. I'm not sure how they heat them, but they were not toasted, which is the most flavorful and preferred method of heating them.
Overall, I am sorry to say, I have to give my experience a less then an...
ย ย ย Read moreVery unsanitary. The cashier went from taking orders, (collecting paper money, coins, swiping credit cards...etc) to expediting food without washing her hands although the wash station was located directly behind her. The manager also went from taking dirty trays to the dish washer area to serving and dishing to-go items like coldslaw, mashed potatoes and puting her hand in the dinner roll bags that sat on the counter instead of a covered bin. It's time for the Health Department to visit this place.
In addition, my to-go order (roasted chicken and yucca fries) took over 30 minutes to be filled, (so much for "Fast Food"). I wouldn't have mind the wait, but the manager or any of the staff members didn't have the courtesy to inform all of the customers waiting on their orders that the chicken is still in the oven cooking and not ready to sale. Another customer who was dinning-in appoached the manager to ask about his order, all she said was "yes, I know". Although that was true, she could has said, "sorry about the wait" and breifly expained the reason for the delay. I NEVER plan on returning to this place, NOR recommend it either. ใฐ๏ธZERO stars if it...
ย ย ย Read moreOMG!!! If I only knew beforehand that Pollo Campero uses CANOLA OIL to fry it's chicken! This chicken made me extremely sick after I had the fried breast. This is the identical reaction I get from (well known) Kay Ef Cee, of which I haven't ate in many years. CANOLA OIL is DISGUSTING and goes through a lengthy process that includes using solvents and other agents to 'bleach" and "refine"' the oil among other processes and treatments to get it ready for bottling. Canola oil was originally created for metal ships and engines! These places are making people sick and there's no doubt in my mind that IF I continued to eat this, I would need to be hospitalized. The rest of this chicken order went into the trash because I wouldn't even let my dog eat it. Makes perfect sense to me as to why so many people are SICKLY, TOO HEAVY and UNHEALTHY in the USA. NEVER EVER AGAIN Pollo...
