Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen — Restaurant in New Albany

The worst experience in my life on Father's day. I went personally and ordered and paid for an Italian Cream cake for Father's Day, and when I went to pick it up they told me they did not have it. THEY DIDN'T MAKE IT. So I returned home with my refund and the trite phrase of "We Sorry" but seeing my children's faces of sadness and frustration for not having the gift cake for his father was a courtesy of "Homemade Ice Crean and Pie Kitchen "WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS PLACE AND WE WILL NEVER RECOMMEND IT, maybe my review of this place will help some so that a special day in which many times the cake takes a super important role does not become a sad and frustrating experience like the one of my family, where one day it should have been full of good memories. Be overshadowed by poor management such as Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen. La peor experiencia. Fui personalmente y ordene y pague un pastel de Crema Italiana para el día del padre, y cuando fui a recogerlo me dijeron que no lo tenían. NO LO HABIAN HECHO. Así que me regrese a casa con my reembolso y la trillada frase de "lo sentimos" pero la carita de mis hijos y su cara de enojo y frustración por no tener el pastel de regalo para su padre fue una cortesía de "Homemade Ice Crean and Pie Kitchen" NO VOLVEREMOS NUNCA A ESTE LUGAR y TAMPOCO LO RECOMENDAREMOS JAMAS, tal vez mi reseña de este lugar a ayude algunos para que un día especial en el que muchas veces el pastel toma un rol super importante no se convierta en una triste y frustrante experiencia como la de mi familia en donde un día que debió estar llenos de buenos recuerdos. So I stopped here in the late afternoon while on a cross country road trip during the very end (hopefully!) of the COVID pandemic. My pie was very good--solid crust (tender, flaky, flavorful) and good fruit flavor. I tried the Caramel Dutch Apple since they said it was their most popular, and I was very impressed by the flavor of the caramel topping and the apple crumb under it was well made, with great crumb, apples that were just tart enough, and a nice hit of cinnamon. It would have been better warm, which leads me to why this is only four stars. I wasn't asked if I wanted my pie warm and so didn't know I could do it until I heard people order it that way after I was already sitting down. While the young woman serving me looked like she might still be in high school, and so it would be forgivable, there were no signs or menus or anything. They didn't seem to have table service though they did let me sit at a table. I eventually found paper menus, but they were by the register which was no where near where you order from. If I lived in the area and could come again, these would be minor annoyances immediately forgotten. Since I was only passing through, though, it made the experience a little unwelcoming, which was a shame because it looked like a nice place and the pie was very good. I would definitely go back and try more of their pies if I am every driving through the area again, but I would make sure I got to look at...

Edit edit: we visited again and had a great experience. Mike the manager or owner definitely takes pride in his company and made everything better.

Edit: mike the manager has reached out too me and offered the next visit to be on him and assured me it wouldn’t happen again. Raising my review and will potential raise it again after visiting.

Walked in at 8:15 (45 minutes before close) and was greeted too one employee huffing and throwing down his broom and the other too a great eye roll.

We ordered and wanted too get ice cream with our pie and when we asked what the Smurf ice cream tasted like the female employee responded with “well it’s blue so I would assume blue ice cream”. Seriously ? Pie was subpar and over priced (even after she took off the 2 extra pieces she rang us up for). Likely will not be going back with so many better options...
