A jewel hidden in plain site. I arrived at 7:30 and the gentlemen behind the counter immediately took my order. I received a very nice greeting from the chef. His goodness of spirit is found in the food. I sat down at one of the wooden tables. I was the only one the dining room until a couple other people came in after 10 minutes. The staff was very accommodating gets extra rice at one customers request.
I ordered from the menu when first greeted. I went with Murgh Makhani better known as Butter Chicken. This is a beloved dish for me. It is the chicken parmasan indicator of Indian food. It usually consists of marinated chicken cooked in a creamy, tomato-based gravy. The chicken is typically tandoor-cooked, giving it a slightly smoky flavor, and then simmered in a rich, buttery sauce made with tomatoes, butter, cream, and a blend of spices. The freshness of the spices used herelike garam masala, turmeric, and chili powder made the dish flavorful. It had a nice heat.
So I paired the butter chicken with butter naan and fragrant rice. My kitchen at home was filled with aromatic flavors.
Also, I ordered vege samosas. I had an order of three (one not pictured as it was eaten on the car ride home). A samosa is a savory puff made with maida flour. The outsides are crunchy and stuffed with a variety of fillings. This specific recipe is stuffed with potato and peas which is spicy, salty, sweet and little sour with lime juice. Depending on the filling the flavor of the samosa will also vary. Just amazing. This place out does my last Indian food meal.
The absolute best besides the butter chicken were the staff and the chef. Just really outstanding people. They put a smile on my face after a very long day. Just the warmth and pride in the food is very apparent.
I left with at least 2 plus meals!
My meal came to $40.45. Two containers of very delicious rice, two entrees, samosas, and butter naan made up the order. This place is a solid A. It is not pretentious, doesn't try to do anything more than provide great Indian food. Kudos to this great little jewel!
The Krunchy Chicken part of the restaurant was very well priced too. Worth a visit as I saw really good looking tenders...
Read moreIncredible food, incredibly kind and attentive service, great prices and excellent portions. The grocery is very well stocked and the operators are more than happy to give advice on how best to use ingredients at home. This is where I will always be coming for my spices, they also have a great selection of fresh and frozen fish, many varieties of which I've never seen elsewhere. The best part however is the restaurant, the flavors are perfectly balanced within each dish I've tried, and portions are very large, usually enough for me to eat for lunch and dinner! It bears mentioning I'm also a long term fan of Krispy Krunchy chicken, and have been missing the old location in Freetown I used to frequent. The chicken at this location is the best I've had for quality and freshness at any KKC location, but it is certainly overshadowed by the top notch...
Read moreEditing because I think they lost their help and now the service is really bad. I hope they can find new helo because the quality of service and food has seriously taken a hit
Had the paneer tikka masala (spicy, though idk if they gave it to me spicy) and some plain naan. Both were so delicious and the veggies in it seemed very fresh. Great vegetarian options, very well spiced and flavorful, and comes with rice! They were also very kind and offered me some chicken Shekh Kabobs to make sure I was good with the spice level. Those were also tasty and i might order some next time I go! The grocery was well stocked with lots of rice, spices, dried legumes and such, and frozen naan and other things. Will definitely be back for rice,...
