HAPPY BOBA CAFE — Restaurant in New Bern

One of few grumbles about living in New Bern has been the lack of diversity in dining options, and Vietnamese food was a noted absence.

When Happy Boba opened, I was so happy to have another quick, tasty option for real food.

I’ve been here now a few times and every time I’ve received great food, great service, and great value. The Banh Mi is a great lunch and is ready quickly!

Tonight we came in and they had a special - vermicelli. It was so fresh and really hit the spot.

The staff was super friendly and so very nice. We ordered our dinner and sat down. When the food was ready, they brought it out to us. I had a brown sugar milk tea that was phenomenal and helped cut the heat that I had added into my pho. As we were nearing the end of our dinner, the owner of the shop came out and shared two desserts with us. The desserts were Vietnamese Flan Cakes in the shapes of hearts with jellies on top and layered in a thin sauce of what tasted like vanilla and coffee. I have to say that it was so delicious!!!! They said it was new on the menu, and I hope that they keep it.

I tried the egg rolls, dumplings, #4 sandwich and the pineapple-passion tea. The egg rolls are superb as they are handmade. The dumplings? Ok but nothing to write home about. The #4? EXTREMELY good! Great flavors, fresh ingredients! The daicon adds a bit of a kick, just enough to get your tastebufmds to say WOW. The pineapple-passion tea was great! I thought it was going to be more sugary than it turned out to be. All in all, great food, great service, and the owner made sure we were treated right.
