Sumo Bowl — Restaurant in New Bern

Always Excellent!!!! I have been a very satisfied customer for 5+ years! I travel for Aflac Insurance and I eat lunch out often during the week. This restaurant serves the best Chinese food that I have ever eaten and I am 63 years old. The service is always very good and the staff all know where I prefer to be seated. That's hard to find these days. The quantity is much more than I "should" eat. However, I always seem to find enough room for it! I don't understand how it could be that some of the reviews are negative with 1 star and the very next review for the very same menu item is 5 stars. I have found the quality, taste, and freshness of the food very consistent. I guess some people just like to be "not" pleased ???? Notice that some of the 1 star reviews are anonymous. That speaks to me. It's easy to talk behind a curtain ... just like the Wizard of Oz ... smoke, fire, big mouth, and less courage than the cowardly lion. OK ... I feel better now. My first time here and will definitely return! Staff very welcoming and friendly. Egg roll appetizer was very fresh and delicious. Oolong tea was served in a teapot so I had many cups to enjoy.

The hot and sour soup was temperature hot and spicy hot with green onion slices on top. Seasoned perfectly, I enjoyed each spoonful until the bowl was dry.

Just as I finished the soup, the waitress brought the entree: hibachi grilled steak with fried rice and vegetables. I have a hand tremor, so I continued to use the soup spoon to eat the rice.

I looked down and saw that the waitress had placed a tablespoon on a white napkin on the table next to my plate. She was observant and thoughtful enough to bring that spoon so I could better enjoy my meal.

Terrible place. The main lady needs a course in customer service, she was very rude and short, interrupting us mid sentence and talking over us. This place is so awful they even refused to do minor customizations for me and my daughter. No veggies and I asked if my stir-fry could include my noodles. nope! I asked isn't all the stir-fry made individually? Yes. Then why not? I don't want to, was the reason. We left!
