Wow-Used to attend regularly. I brought some friends from out of town to experience this restaurant located in the middle of a "tourist" historical place. Del Rio closed at 10:00 Sunday night and we got there at 9:28. I realized we were pushing it a little but I really wanted my friends to know what I had been raving about before they left and they were just passing through so I wouldn't get another opportunity. There was no hostess and we waited about 9 or 10 minutes chatting before my husband went to find someone. The girl was not happy. Literally told us quote for quote, Mind you we close in 20 minutes as she seated us laying all the menus in one spot of the table and walked off. About 3 minutes later, our waitress came, did not introduce herself, not smiling and took our drink order and also left without a word. While we were waiting for our drinks, another party of four came in, and then approximately another 5 minutes after that, another party of 6 came in with a small child. I'm not sure what kind of service they received. When our server came back, I asked her name and I told her that was a cute name hoping to get a smile, ANYTHING else except her disgust with us. She said thank you and asked "Do you know what you want?" Thank goodness she noticed the hostess didn't give us any silverware when we were seated. I would've hated to ask our server. Without saying anything, she left, came back with the silverware, laid it in one corner of the table, and left again. Our hot sauce was watery and because of the time we arrived (9:30ish) we all agreed we probably received the bottom of the pot and took the blame for that but not the horrible treatment from the staff. I should've asked for the manager but I apologized to my friends in embarassment. We DID order and eat our food as it was late and my friends needed to get on the road. Thank you Del Rio for an experience me and my friends will not forget and I won't be returning to...
Read more10-15-21 & 10-16-21 We actually visited this restaurant 2 different days. Our first day actually went well we stopped in for Margaritas Friday Happy Hour $2.00 frozen Margaritas "nice". 2pm to 6pm., service was great "Thanks Megan", and then decided to eat something so I ordered the fish tacos, not the best but ok, drinks are flowing so I'm good, the only thing was the annoying thing are not the flies (we're sitting outside) are the bee's trying to take a sip of our drinks, peskey little thing, and I know it's just something they can't control. Nevertheless we had a great time paid and left. Now the following day we return for you know what Happy Hour, so I check in with the young lady at the entrance/door, and she recognise me from the day before so I mentioned to her I'm back for the Happy Hour Margarita's she greets me with a smile and has us wait for the next available table, so I (we) proceed to the bar an I ordered 2 margaritas hand the 1st one to my wife she starts sipping on it then he hands me mine, and they taste great until he says $13.50 and I say Oh NO, it should be $2.00 according to the young lady at the door I just spoke to her about the tastie special from yesterday, and he (bartender) replies it only applies for Mon.thru Fri. I return to the young lady an I ask her what's up we that, she leaves to speak with her manger about the issue, and returns an tell's me it's her mistake and it's oh well, it is what it is. The manager never came out to at the least apologize. Nevertheless they went from 5 Star to a 2 Star from one day to another.Thank You for taking time to read this review, Please give me a Thumbs Up, and Follow Me...
Read moreWell we like Mexican food , but this place was recommended to us by the home builder in New Braunfels, so we decided to check it out!
The wait time was not bad, but we noticed a few things that needed attention, especially during these times of the COVID Pandemic, such as:
There were empty tables and they were never wiped down.
We finally got out table from the time we got the text 2:38pm and we were seated 3:10pm
The table we were seated at was not cleaned, and the chairs were also dirty with food, so we wiped it down ourselves, since I carry wipes and hand sanitizer with me at all times.
We asked for sweet tea, but all they had was unsweetened tea.
We don’t drink soft drinks (soda) so we ordered lemonade. That was the most tart and sweet artificial lemonade I’ve ever had.
I ordered the shrimp tacos and expected it to be similar to what I’ve eaten before, but was I surprised to taste it was not.
So you can see what I mean, some onion on the tacos would have been fine but take a look at this picture of all the onions I took out of the shrimp tacos.
The rice was cold and crunchy, so I didn’t eat it. My husband didn’t eat his either. He s said the same thing, was cold and crunchy.
The charro beans were good and I think I at that better than everything else.
I ended up eating just the inside of the shrimp taco with my fork. The tortillas were also hard and cold.
I guess the food sat too long and got cold before I got it to eat it. I was very hungry, so I ate what was palatable to eat. I’m usually ok with eating what I’m given, but not this time.
Thank You for your effort, but I’d give this a...
