This place is bad with allergy cross-contamination. My boyfriend ordered steak fajitas with no cilantro on it for me, because I'm deathly allergic to it - I can't eat it, but I also can't even breathe the smell of it in without potentially going into anaphylaxis in a matter of seconds. The lady at the counter said the dish didn't come with cilantro in it. My boyfriend paid, got the food, and then looked at the food briefly and didn't immediately see anything, so he assumed it was safe. Once he got home with it (I can't go near the restaurant without having a reaction) and I opened it, I held my breath and thoroughly inspected everything. Upon flipping some pieces of meat and veggies over, I found a couple large pieces of cilantro and a big piece on one tortilla. My boyfriend wouldn't have even let me near it if he'd have known that there were leaves hidden underneath. Thank goodness it wasn't immediately fragrant because it was saturated in the juices of the meat - I closed the box right after opening it and seeing the pieces of cilantro, re-bagged it, double and then triple-bagged it in the trash, and we both had to wash our hands as well just in case. His enchiladas were fine, but they also gave a side dish of something that looked like chili that had green flecks (I could see the colors through the lid) of what looked to be the size and shape of chopped up bits of cilantro inside and I wasn't about to open that to find out.
Even though I held my breath and was physically next to the container for less than 5 seconds, and went across the room again to breathe out and then breathe back in again, my nose still started to swell up and the back of my throat did too. Luckily the reaction only went that far and then kinda evened out and I can still breathe, but had my boyfriend and I not inspected the food that quickly and shut it that quickly it could've been a lot worse and I could've gone into anaphylaxis.
I know my allergen isn't a common one to be allergic to, but that doesn't mean that you can just disregard it and be like "it'll probably be fine" when making someone's food. I know there's people out there that just don't like certain foods and will say they're allergic but I'm not one of them. I used to eat cilantro all the time when I was younger, and loved the smell and the taste. I wish I could eat it and still enjoy it. I can't even be in the same room as it now.
Do better, and take your customers seriously. If i hadn't been as thorough with inspecting the food I could've ended up in the hospital, or...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusted with this place. We’ve been coming here for 3 years and I’m so disappointed in the service received by management today. We just had a baby and needed something easy, so we ordered a taco salad. The meat was completely raw and the entire thing at the bottom was full of water. We’ve eaten this several times here and have never had it look this way. Yet, when my husband called to see if we could get it refunded they said they would just make us a new one. We live over 20 minutes away and did not want to load the family up (I literally just gave birth) just to go get another one. It wasn’t worth it. I get told when I called back explaining the situation, “I dont know what to tell you. We already made a new one but it’s going to be soggy too. We use different meats so that’s why it looked raw. The lettuce creates water at the bottom of the shell. You can come in and pick it up.”I explained that we just had a baby and my husband didn’t want a new one made because we have an AC guy at our house and we just wanted a refund. I also do not know why if I ordered GROUND BEEF, that there would be different meat in there…and why it’s raw. But whatever. She got very catty with me on the phone after I was being very reasonable. My husband ended up making the drive by himself and brought the salad in. The manager had every single cook and employee standing behind her over a taco salad lol. Very confrontational. Where’s the compassion? It was not our mess up that this happened, it was theirs. I’m more upset about the fact that I was being very nice and she immediately got catty with me instead of apologizing and owning up to their mistake. Don’t waste your time eating here. Y’all just lost customers that have been coming here for years. We also know plenty of people that go here, so I will be telling them as well not...
Read moreBEWARE OF THE DETAILS WHEN ORDERING I'm not one to leave bad reviews, it's usually just chalk it up to an off night... but in this case, and more often when we've tried any of the Guadalajara restaurants, changes and lack of presentation become the norm. We ordered the "Molcajete"- mixed fajita plate (1lb avg). Usually served sizzling hot in a stone bowl with 6 tortillas, and 1 side plate of rice, beans, guacamole and Pico. This night the food was served in a plastic Molcajete, luke warm at best. Now here's the kicker... when receiving the tortillas, there were only 2! Not 2 each corn/ flour, just 2. We ordered an extra side plate, but only rice and beans were served. We were told a full order of Guacamole and Pico would need to be ordered. When we asked the waitresses, they stated that what is served with the order currently. When asking for another extra order of tortillas, again they only brought 2. Standing firm on that's their new policy on orders. We've ordered this player a couple of times on past visits and know exactly on how it should've been served. They acknowledged changes being made, but that's becoming typical of all the locations. No offer from management for cooking fresh Hot food, or a few extra tortillas per order. Sorry to say, the hopes for this location being different have been dashed. Other places within a short drive for better food...
