Y’all, I have to brag on Mattengas Pizzeria for a minute…
I ordered our pizza around 4:45 and forgot to change my pick up time to 7:00 which is when we are on our way home from jiu jitsu. I realized my mistake when I got a text at 4:58 stating that my order was ready (btw 13mins is a pretty damn quick turn around time). I immediately called to let them know that I messed up, and that I wasn’t going to be there until 7:00, and then asked if they could just throw it in the warmer. I spoke to Derik, who kindly said yes, and I went about my afternoon.
At 6:42 I get a call from Kira at Mattenga’s, saying that they were going to re-fire our pizzas because she didn’t want us to leave with sub par food. I said, “ please don’t do that, this was all my fault, not yours! We will be fine!”; she refused. She said she had already taken our pizzas to the firehouse and it made some firemen very happy 🥲
At 7:00, I arrived to smiling faces, excellent customer service, and fresh pizzas. MATTENGA’S FOR THE WIN!!!
As an owner of a small business, I understand how hard things are for everyone right now; we are all just trying to stay a float. We are so lucky to live in an area full of wonderful, locally owned businesses that we should be supporting, and Mattenga’s is one of them. We have been customers for a long time, so I knew they were a great place, but the fact that they would even call about our pizza, let alone make new pizza for us, floored...
Read moreReally wanted to like this place. Right around the corner, small business and great reviews but...ordered dinner online Friday 2/18. A half and half pizza (margherita and supreme), a cheesy garlic bread (which is a small pizza with garlic spread and mozzarella cheese) and a dinner salad total was around $35. Got a text about a minute after placing my order that my order would be ready in 5 minutes. Head over to pick up and the salad wasnt ready. No big deal, they make the salad and we head home. The half and half looked great and was cooked fine but both can best be described as bland. Sauce has no personality and lacked any elements of salt, garlic or really anything. Just a boring pedestrian red sauce. Crust had the personality of white bread-no flavor notes other than its flour lol. The cheesy garlic bread was way overcooked. An inedible slab of hard burnt cheese-went straight into the trash. The best thing was the salad but it wasnt anything special just a dinner salad. Just bland, boring pizza without anything to make you crave it again. From a flavor to value perspective Little Caesar's is better. But definitely not better than other options in this part of town (Pizza Hut, Stouts, NY Pizza Pub and now a new...
Read moreThe pizza is delicious and high quality but quality of people is the best thing about this place. Right away bright, kind, smiling faces greet you the energy is welcoming and the staff seem happy to be there. All of that good energy gets put into the pizza which is mouth watering good. A young blonde gentleman with glasses greeted us and could tell we were having a hard day found out some really sad news in our family and I just couldn’t cook so we went to get pizza the young man remade our order fresh since we we ran late and was so kind with an outstanding attitude not sure who runs these establishments but they have it right with the atmosphere and environment. Who knew a pizza place could make a family feel so much better after devastating news. It’s those kinds of people who give us hope for a better world we need more good people out here and this pizza establishment is full of wonderful people inside and out. Thank y’all for what you do and the energy you put out it is recognized and so incredibly valued! The cannolis looked amazing I hope to try them in...
